Villa jose

Just spent a week in this villa and came back with more bites than Dracula we are sure it was from the bedding we got out of the wardrobe .the villa is part of a small industrial area .We got woken up some mornings with the noise of an angle grinder from the man next door .The sheets and the towels were threadbare, they only left us with half a roll of toilet paper to last a week .When we got the keys to the villa we were told the pool would be cleaned once while we were there it was not touched. If you like the sound of angle grinders and the barking of dogs then this is the villa for you.

A warm welcome in 'real' Spain

We had 10 nights at Villa Jose in the lovely white town of Ardales in February. From our initial email enquiry to our parting beer with Eryl and Roland, the service was fantastic - nothing was too much trouble and any issues were addressed very quickly and professionally. The villa is rustic, so the 5 stars aren't meant to imply the accommodation is the Ritz - but it was well equipped (gas heater and real fire - essential in February, washing machine, dvd player, proper cooker and gas hob etc). It's on the edge of the village and you could walk in but with our 2 year old we chose to drive. The village has several bars, restaurants and shops including good veg and a lovely cake shop! Locals are friendly, although don't speak much English, so a phrase book can be useful. We travelled quite a lot as we hired a car and managed to visit Tarifa, Puerto de Santa Maria (near Cadiz), Antequera, Jerez, Ronda, Marbella and Malaga as well as exploring the nearby lakes and seeing the Caminito del Rey and Carratraca. The whole area is just stunning and it was really interesting to see inland areas instead of just coast towns. We'd love to come back in warmer weather and enjoy the pool!

Hola to Ardales!

We were met by Eryl and Roland a the edge of the village and taken to the villa. The pool was a good size and on a sunny patio with nice quality loungers with cushions, the patio had more chairs and a table as well as a bbq and pizza oven. The description on the website of both the villa and the area were accurate and we enjoyed a relaxing peaceful time in the area, which is stunning. The scenery is amazing and the village itself very friendly with lovely bars and plenty of places to eat. Just be prepared for the fact it is on a steep gradient - no climbing gear required - but a good way to work up an appetite for your dinner! We also found a torch was useful on return journeys in the evening as the unmade up road where the villa is situated is a little uneven in places, fine for driving though. We have returned home thoroughly enchanted by the area and hope to go back soon. Eryl and Roland are friendly hosts who made us very welcome and told us lots of information about the area.

Great stay in authentic Spain

After an easy drive from Malaga, we were met at the arranged time by Eryl and Jose. After a brief tour of the village, we followed them to the villa, which we would have been unable to find otherwise. Between them, Eryl and Jose showed us round and explained how everything worked. The comprehensive information pack provided proved extremely useful. The villa is small but very well equipped with everything that we needed. Outside, the lovely pool is adjoined by a small garden and terrace area, which includes a great barbecue. The pool area is totally private and not overlooked, so very relaxing. From just outside the villa gate, we watched beautiful sunsets over the hills, and, with very little light pollution, it's a great spot for stargazing. The villa is only a short walk from the lovely and very friendly village, where there are few tourists and a range of bars and restaurants. One afternoon, we were fortunate to bump into Eryl and her husband, Roland, and very much enjoyed their company over a couple of beers. Within just a short drive of the villa is some spectacular scenery. We particularly enjoyed El Chorro and the lakes, which are stunning. A lovely afternoon there included hiring a pedalo. Ronda is an easy 40-minute drive and well worth a visit. The roads in the area were among the quietest I've experienced in Spain, which made driving a pleasure. To sum up, we had a very relaxing holiday in a comfortable villa in a great location. Eryl, Roland and Jose were extremely friendly and helpful. We experienced no problems at all while staying, but it was reassuring to know that someone was readily available if needed. Many thanks to Jose, Eryl and Roland.

Staying at Villa Jose for the third time

For the third time we had a fantastic stay at Villa Jose in Ardales. We don't need luxury, but appreciate good basics (kitchen, bathroom) and that's what we get at Villa Jose. We always enjoy the stunning landscape nearby (the mesmerizing lakes, the mountains)and not in the least the laidback-atmoshpere in the village Ardales itself. We always have good contact with both the agent as the owner and problems are solved quick and adequate (for example: the broken showerhead was fixed the same day). We certainly like Villa Jose!

Excellent base for climbing and walking.

Nice villa on edge of real spanish village. Not much english spoken. Warm and sunny every day except rain on last day. We ate breakfast by the pool every morning and had a roaring log fire every night. Barbecued three nights and ate at local bar/restaurants in the village on the other four nights of our stay. El Mirador restaurant overlooking the lakes has superb views. Villa Jose is an excellent value for money base for climbing at local crags and El Chorro. Excellent friendly advice and service from Eryl and Roland, who even did some shopping for us as we arrived on Sunday when the shops are closed.
