The owners have kept the rustic character of this more than 100 year old Hispano Moorish farm which can comfortably house from 2 to 6 people.

The inside decoration reflects the owners love for authenticity and interest in world travels. They have beautifully restored the beams in all rooms, uncovered stone walls and generally decorated with rustic and antique furniture and original paintings.

The holiday cottage offers a large outside terrace, BQ area, covered al fresco eating area with antique table, benches and chairs, infinity swimming pool [11m by 6m] surrounded by 3 large sun decks, sun loungers provided, large grounds and private parking.Heating is provided during winter months.

The congenial owners will provide you with tourist information, take your bookings and will generally be on hand to ensure that your stay is the most enjoyable possible.

Please note we have fans during the summer months and heating for the walls of this period property are very thick so this keeps the heat in in the winter and the house is cool during the summer.
The farmhouse kitchen is well appointed with a gas cooker with hob, electric oven, microwave, washing machine, fridge freezer, espresso machine, cafetiere, toaster and electric kettle. It also features a pine dresser, old pine table, chairs and bench. An authentic huge bread oven has been restored and is the focal point in the dining area together with farmhouse implements and lovely Moroccan bowls hanging from the walls.

A welcome pack comprising milk, instant coffee, tea, sugar,, bread as well as complementary bottle of red wine will be awaiting you in the kitchen upon arrival. Bread can be delivered 3 times per week to the property.

The sitting room which is beautifully presented, has comfortable rustic settees and chairs grouped around a fully functioning stone fire place. It also has a small library, in addition to board games, radio CD player, small selection of CDs, videos and a TV.

The ground floor bedroom (double) is decorated in an understated oriental style and has an adjacent shower room with WC.

The first floor offers a romantic double bedroom with 4 poster bed and a balcony with an amazing view over the grounds and mountains. A well appointed bathroom with shower, bidet, toilet and washbasin is equally to be found on the first floor.

The large twin bedroom is decorated in a Mexican style with wrought iron beds and an antique walnut wardrobe. It offers equally lovely views over the gardens and surrounding hills.

Having falling in love with the peace and tranquility and the breathtaking views of the area as well as the fascinating history of Andalusia we purchased some years ago 2 ruins and 11 acres of land. As optimistic "young" pensioners it took us 2 years to rebuild the property and create wonderful gardens to match. Winter visit

this was our third trip to cortijo la senna the weather was cold but dry which did not stop us walking every day in fact we were struck the abundance of wildlife inthe winter and felt the atmosphere in the bars and restaurants in the villages gave a more authentic Taste of Spain than in the summer Donald and Kathryn were wonderful hosts as always and the house was warm and cozy we are already planing to return in the spring

Thank you for your very kind comments, much appreciated. Only one thing... our villa is called Cortijo la Serena as it is a wordplay on serenity in spanish. We do hope that our visitors enjoy the serenity and beauty of the area.

Fabulous place

We had a wonderful stay in Villa De Summerville. Most fantastic garden and fabulous views of the surrounding hills. The owners are very friendly and help you when asked for help with daytrips, nice restaurants or beatiful beaches. Our stay could not have been better.

Outstanding villa, great views, pool & facilities

We had a wonderful time at Cortijo la serena, from the warm welcome from Kathryn and Donald to the relaxing days by the pool, to the excursions to the coastal resorts and historic cities of Granada and cordoba. The owners were extremely helpful & knowledgeable on the region & helped us to make the most of our two weeks. The villa is a lovely mix of traditional features and modern shower and kitchen facilities with stunning views over the countryside. The barbecue area and other seating areas provided shade and great places to relax during the day. The pool is a real feature too with a poolside shower and loungers with shade when required. We would recommend the villa highly to anyone looking for a villa with character, great facilities, in a rural location with good access to the coast and historic cities, the owners also add to make the villa outstanding.

Paradise Villa

My husband and I and two other couples rented out "Paradise Villa" as we dubbed it for a week in June, and we are already planning a return visit. The villa is amazing, inside and out. It's beautifully decorated. The facilities in the kitchen are good, the shower is excellent and the rooms are very comfortable. The whole place was sparkling clean when we arrived. It didn't get too hot at night either, not sure if it's because of the stone walls, but fans were provided anyway. The grounds of the villa are stunning and so well kept. The pictures really don't do it justice. The pool overlooks unspoilt scenery, it also looks down on a small outdoor bar decked out with fairy lights which was excellent for night time cocktails! The tent was also great for evening sessions with our guitar or ipod, and we also had dinner in there one night. It was lovely and cool and very spacious. There is also a great bbq area which we availed more than once. Not to mention the hammocks, the table outside the house and the terrace. There are so many different areas to hang out and relax. We all enjoyed each other's company so we normally hung out together, but if you did need a bit of alone time there is certainly ample space. The villa is quiet and secluded, yet still only a 15 min drive to a nearby town where you can find a big supermarket to do your shopping, or pop out for dinner. The starry nights were incredible. Our hosts, Donald and Kathryn were very discreet, helpful and friendly and answered any questions we had about the villa or the area. All in all, one of the best holidays ever. I've already passed on details of the villa to several family members and friends, and intend on returning myself.

Antequera - A travelers dream

Perfect location to visit all the sites, cooler in the mountains (800 M high), 2 hrs from Seville, 1 hr from Granada, 45 min from Malaga and Ronda. Great pool for down time, away from any traffic, touch the stars at night. Very clean, 10-20 minutes to groceries, outstanding hosts by being always available to assist or guild and allowed us the privacy we wanted. Fantastic place to holiday!

Beautiful Country House

What a gorgeous property, hidden away in the countryside, and what a warm welcome we received from the owners on our arrival, our flight was late in and we were a bit tired and grumpy when we arrived, but Donald and Kathryn could not have been kinder. For once the photos on the website did not lie, the house and grounds are beautiful, exactly as portrayed. My favourite spot was by the pool, the views over the garden and the mountains were breathtaking. We went to the Al Hambra at Granada, very easy to get there and not to busy or hot, easy to see where the inspiration for the property and grounds came from! Meant to get to Seville and Cordoba, but the pool was too inviting on a couple of the days so we will be back next year.

Quiet Oasis

Moorish style property set in interesting beautiful grounds. The owners a british/belgian couple live in adjacent property. They proved to be extremely helpful and informative. The Moorish theme is carried on throughout the property with interesting furnishings and artifacts. Ideally situated for touring, easy driving to Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Malaga. The house is in a very quiet position and the grounds has many secret places to go and lose oneself in. We stayed March/April so blossom and wild flowers were out. Only critisism from us was the swimming pool was unheated but this would not be a problem later in year when the weather would be hotter.
