All the apartments in Verde Mar III are very impressive and are more or less equipped the same, we think it can be the small things that make the difference between apartments, so here are some items included in ours at no extra cost: Community TV Spanish & British {reduced signal strength from British Broadcasters can sometimes affect reception},

Smoke alarm, combination locked safe box, first aid supplies, DVD player with USB (take your cable with you) and memory card connection to play back your digital photos on the tele; lots of CDs and DVDs; a selection of books; scrabble, dominoes, cards, draughts, chess, backgammon and other board games; beach chair/beds, beach mats, inflatable lilos, parasol, a large and medium size inflatable boat, beach toys; 2 adult mountain bicycles, 1 toddlers bike with (max 50kg), ruck sack; baby travel cot, baby relaxer chair, booster seat high chair, potty, child’s toilet seat; hardwood terrace table and six chairs; 3 folding table/stools; large and medium sized cooler boxes with freezer blocks, thermos flask and picnic plate/cutlery & beaker set; extensive range of cooking utensils, pots, pans & serving dishes, tea pot, milk and sugar set, plenty of glasses including wine and champagne flutes, a paella pan and herbs/spices to go with it, fruit juicer, microwave cooker, dishwasher, coffee maker, wheeled shopping trolley; cool/warm air blower in bathroom, bathroom scales to check your luggage allowance, radio alarm clocks in both bedrooms, a hair drier to suit local electricity supply, wall mirrors in bedrooms, hall, lounge and bathroom, tasselled fly screens on sliding terrace doors, umbrellas which you shouldn’t need, a torch in case of emergency or returning at night from the campsite restaurant.

Situated on the Costa Calida south of the Costa Blanca this holiday apartment built 2005 is about 50m from Playa Honda golden sandy beach, 700m long x 36m wide. It is approximately 10 minutes’ drive to the La Manga Club Golf sports complex, North, South and West, golf courses.

Mar Menor Weather

Weather along the shores of the Mar Menor is mild, making it ideal for holidays in both the summer & winter. The area is sheltered by hills and high mountains making this a kind of micro climate. This limits rainfall; as a result the region enjoys sunshine for in excess of 320 days per year. The sun is hottest during the July and August, with temperatures rarely falling below 30°C. The typically mild winters boast averages of around 17°C.

Mar Menor area is famous for its salt lakes, which has a major effect on humidity levels; as a result the air is dryer than other parts of Spain.

Ideal for Families

The holiday apartment has secure video link entrance, offers relaxation areas with palm trees in a landscaped garden, open air swimming pool May to September with Jacuzzi, heated indoor pool October to May with Jacuzzi & sauna, gymnasium and children's play area. The apartment is in easy walking distance to local supermarket/general store, bars and restaurants. The beach has a bar open most of the year about 100m to the south a cafe/bar beside the beach opposite Verde Mar III open all year round and La Manga Camping is about 300m north (turn left on the beach), which has a bar beside the beach open all year round. There is a Go-Karting track about 1.5km away and there are pelota, football, tennis and basketball courts locally at the edge of the village. In the next village in Play Paraiso there is a community sports centre. In the apartment there are two adult bicycles and a toddler bike for your use.

Locally

There are large supermarkets within a five minute drive at Cabo de Palos; Los Belones village is a short drive away and offers shops, bars and good international restaurants to suit every pocket and on Tuesdays there is a small market in the church square. Cabo de Palos, about 2km away is a fishing village which becomes a place for nightlife into the small hours; Festivo the Chinese restaurant is a must do, there is also a large market in Cabo de Palos on Sundays selling everything from local produce to flea market items. The local bus service between Catagena and La Manga, stops regularly at the edge of the village on the service road, the main bus station is about 2km onto La Manga strip providing service to the rest of Spain. The nearest train station is in Los Nietos about 6km away.

Car Hire & Airport Transfer

Hiring a car is the most convenient way to travel during your stay and it is relatively inexpensive taking into account the cost of airport transfers. There are many rental firms and transfer/taxi companies, some of our guests have not hired a car and we have organised their transfers.

Sports facilities in Playa Paraíso (Playa Honda)

The residential area of Playa Paraíso, next to Playa Honda, has a municipal sports centre on Calle Himilce, with a climbing wall, gym, football pitch, two tennis courts and three paddle tennis courts. During the summer canoeing trips across the Mar Menor and to the islands of the lagoon are organized. Throughout the year spinning, yoga, pilates and other classes are held. The sports centre opens from 9.00 to 14.00 and from 16.00 to 22.30 from Monday to Friday, but on Saturday afternoons the timetable is 17.00 to 21.00 and on Sunday afternoons the facilities are closed. Public health services in Playa Honda

Medical centre in Playa Honda on the shore of the Mar Menor opens only in summer

Patients from Playa Honda and Playa Paraíso are re-directed to the Centro de Salud Costa Cálida on the Avenida Gran Vía de La Manga del Mar Menor on the strip. The small medical centre in Playa Honda is located in the row of yellow apartment blocks (Julieta) on the northern end of Avenida Julieta Orbaiceta across from Casa Blanca Café Bar although it is not visible from the main street as the entrance is on the other side of the building. The chemist’s is located on the same square onto which the medical centre backs. The closest hospitals are the Santa Lucía just outside Cartagena (following the highway to Cartagena and the Puerto will take you there), and Los Arcos in the outskirts of San Javier, the first of which is under 20 minutes’ drive away and the second under half an hour: click for further

Accommodation

Located on the 5th floor, there are lifts and stair access serving 2 apartments per floor, it sleeps up to 7 people + cot, accommodation comprises hallway, two bedrooms, lounge/dining room, bathroom, fitted kitchen, galeria utility terrace and a good size terrace (14m2), overlooking swimming pools, the planted grounds and the Mar Menor.

The Lounge/dining room is open plan, comfortably furnished including a double bed settee with a single pull-out bed below, dining table and chairs + infants booster high chair. There is warm/cool air conditioning, telephone entry system, TV/DVD/CD and board games. Sliding doors open onto the terrace where there is hard wood terrace furnature and beach toys are stored in the green storage unit.

The main bedroom has two single beds, 2 bedside cabinets and lamps, fitted wardrobe with combination lock safe box, chest of drawers; this bedroom also has warm/cool air conditioning. The second bedroom has a ceiling fan light, two single beds, a bedside cabinet with lamp, small chest of drawers, large chest of drawers and fitted wardrobe. The bathroom has a WC, bidet, illuminated vanity unit, wash hand basin, bath/shower with safety shower screen. Please replace bathroom consumables as you use them.

The kitchen is fully equipped, with a ceramic hob, oven, extractor fan, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, filter coffee maker, toaster and kettle. Plenty of cutlery and crockery for 7 people and there are ample cooking utensils. The washing machine, cleaners sink and water heater is situated off the kitchen in the galleria terrace, the bikes are stored here as well as the numerous beach chair/beds. Please replace kitchen consumables as you use them. The apartment should be left in a similar state to its condition on arrival. We advise you to use the dishwashing machine for your convenience.

The accommodation is spacious (83.33m2 ), floors are tiled throughout, it is well equipped and furnished to a high standard, all linen and towels (not beach towels) are provided as standard and all services are included with no extra charge. A travel cot, relaxer chair potty childrens toilet seat and a high chair are available at no extra cost The apartment has a hallway leading from the entrance to all rooms except the galleria terrace, which is accessed from the kitchen, and the main terrace which is accessed from the lounge sliding doors.

Water Sports

Water sports enthusiasts will find one of the best places in the world for practising sailing, canoeing, swimming, water-skiing, jet-skiing, kite surfing, windsurfing, catamaranning, and every other type of water sport activity in its numerous clubs, ports and sailing schools. The Nautical Resort on the Mar Menor and similar consortiums in Mazarron and Aguilas offer the chance to hire out equipment and book sailing courses.

La Manga Strip

The strip is about 18.5 kilometres long between the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor. There are many beaches either side of the La Manga del Mar Menor strip that divides the two seas, the Mar Menor is safer for bathing, it is shallow, with temperatures generally higher than the Mediterranean but both coastlines offer excellent bathing opportunities. Beaches include Playa Honda, Playa Paraiso, Playa Cavanna, Playa Chica and Playa de Venceciola on the Mar Menor, and Playa del Estacio, Playa el Arenal and Playa de Galua on the Mediterranean. Many of the beaches have sun loungers and sun umbrellas which are available for hire at a small charge.

Calblanque

Located on the Mediterranean mainland side, Calblanque is a National Park Nature Reserve where there are secluded sandy beaches, rocky bays and salt lakes. There are very few amenities, but it is the perfect place for nature lovers, walkers, cyclists and those seeking privacy or to observe the birdlife or whale-watch. The area is being considered for classification as a World Heritage Site.

Mar de Cristal

Mar de Cristal is on the inward shore of the Mar Menor it is the next beach to Playa Honda, where there is a good variety of water sports available. It is a short drive or a walk around the headland to the north (left), from Verde Mar III, where there are snack bars and restaurants. The water is shallow and safe for bathing.

is available for rental throughout the year. Normally prices are based on renting the apartment for 7 nights although other periods can be accepted please refer to pricing section. The start date is negotiable, for you to take advantage of flight discounts. Should your dates cover different pricing periods the total cost will be calculated pro-rata for the number of days in each period. If you need further information we are pleased to receive your enquiry.

To make a booking, please read the Terms and Conditions below consult the availability calendar below and then contact us. Your completion of the A Booking Form will be taken as acceptance of the terms under which the apartment is offered for rental.

Terms and Conditions

Your rental booking is made subject to confirmation by, we (the proprietors) to you (the renter).

On Receipt, please complete the Booking Form and return it with a refundable deposit of £200 held against cancellation, breakages, damage or loss of keys. The deposit is refundable 2 weeks after your return, assuming all is well and the keys have been returned. The balance is payable 6 weeks prior to departure. There is not normally an additional charge for cleaning after your departure unless extra cleaning is required. Should the balance not be received by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel the booking in writing and make the dates available to let. Although you are unlikely to encounter problems on your trip, we strongly advise you to carry Form E111 with you and take out comprehensive travel insurance covering health, travel, baggage, loss of personal items and cancellation.

Smoking allowed only on the terrace, tobacco odours are exacerbated and forced into other rooms by Air Conditioning;, so for the comfort of all, strictly NO SMOKING in the apartment or building. Please respect your neighbors, wear soft footwear in the apartment and keep noise to a minimum.

Unfortunately pets cannot be accommodated.

Access to the apartment is normally from 16.00 hours on your day of arrival and should be vacated by 10.00 hours on your day of departure. These times are to allow the apartment to be prepared for the next renter.

Family holiday

We had a super family holiday at the end of May, beginning of June. The weather was warm and sunny and was perfect for the beach or playing games with the children, swimming, snorkeling, cycling, walking, and sight seeing. The apartment was comfortable and well equipped for our needs. There is everything you need to prepare meals and picnics for the beach. There are several bars and restaurants within walking distance from the apartment, and plenty to do and see in the surrounding areas. We also enjoyed days in the cities of Cartagena and Murcia, and shopping at Dos Mares. It is well worth hiring a car to see the whole region but the children were more than happy to be snorkeling in the Mar Menor and splashing in the apartment pool.

Great Holiday

This was a lovely apartment opposite the beach and part of a great complex with indoor/outdoor pools, gym and playground. Our kids really enjoyed the stay with the beach over the road perfect for them as the sea stayed at ankle length as you walked out. Local amenities including a couple of cafes/restaurants and supermarket were great and this provided a nice quiet getaway for the family with no neon lights or loud music to spoil the serenity. Local transport (buses) were great once we located the bus stop and there were some lovely places to visit slightly further afield. The apartment had everything we needed as well as useful beach toys (blow up boat, li-lo, bucket and spade etc.) as well as bikes. There was no need to travel too far and we enjoyed a very relaxing break.
