Casa Alfora- A fabulous villa. Large private pool with diving board and direct sea views. Just 5mins by car from historic BEGUR. This villa was refurbished for the 2008 season and offers very good accommodation on one level with direct access to the pool and terraces. Casa Alfora has airconditioning, ceiling fans and a wood burning stove for the winter months. Available all year round.
In a peaceful location (No through traffic with only 2 houses in the road), both well spaced from each other.
Direct sea and country views and 5-10 mins by car to Sa Riera beach where there is a pretty fishing village and deep sandy bay with waterfront restaurants.
Casa Alfora offers great holiday accommodation for two families all on one level. The bedrooms and bathrooms are either side of the spacious living area which has glass doors to the full width covered terrace; a wonderful outside living area with views of the pool, countryside and sea. Here there is a large built in bbq with easy access from the kitchen and living area.

Fabulous large open plan kitchen (new 2008) with central island. Well equipped including dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, iron, ironing board, fridge/freezer. The washing machine is in one of the bathrooms.
Approached on either side of the house by gated steps, the enclosed garden offers privacy and is level with an additional area accessed by shallow wide steps to a walkway at the back of the house.
The swimming pool is surrounded by lawn and there are two sun terraces with an additional secluded terrace at the back of the house. There are sunbeds and garden furniture including dining tables and chairs. The pool is easily seen from the indoor living area.
Garage and street parking.
The property is managed by an English couple who live nearby and you can be met on arrival and helped with any queries during your stay.

BEGUR - This charming hillside town with its cobbled streets offers the visitor an excellent choice of Catalan restaurants, tapas bars and shops. The main square has entertainment in the high season and there are many late night bars and a couple of discos. The overall atmosphere is very Spanish with local artists` paintings and crafts displayed in the square during the summer. Every Wednesday there is a market sellling fruit/veg clothes and accessories. There are excellent supermarkets,specialist fishmonger, butchers` shops and freshly baked bread available in many shops.

Tennis and horseriding- 10mins drive.
Beach activities, snorkelling, diving- 10min drive.
The beaches in this region are superb. All sandy with blue flags and mostly a shallow entrance making it safe for little ones. There is rarely overcrowding as there is such a choice of beaches and some are relatively unknown by tourists. This area attracts many spaniards from Barcelona and other parts of Spain, many of whom have holiday homes here.
Go-karting for kids and adults-10mins drive.
Water park- 20mins drive.
Zoo- 10mins drive
Golf- many golf courses within 10-20 mins drive. The house manual gives details of all the courses in the local vicinity.
Sailing- 10mins drive. There is a sailing club at Sa Riera and kayaks and pedallos for hire. Kayaks also at Calella.
Cultural activities- all over the region:
Figueres- Dalis museum- 40mins drive
Medieval towns- 15-20 mins drive- Peratallada- a must to visit.
Restaurants- too numerous to mention. Begur has a very good choice as do the coastal villages. The house manual has previous guests comments on local restaurants.
Shops- an interesting selection of very good shops selling clothes, jewellery, etc.
Food- excellent speciality shops in Begur for fish and meat plus very good supermarkets.
Cycling- bykes can be hired in Palafrugell
Walking- this is wonderful walking country, especially out of season when it is not so hot. The tourist office has a map showing popular walks.
Skiing- within 3 hours you can be on the slopes in Andorra.
Night life- plenty if you want it but there is not a string of discos here. Mainly late night cellar bars with music, some with dancing. There is a club in Begur and one just outside, not far from the villa but well away from everything and everyone!
The main square has entertainment in the high season with a mixture of traditional and modern music and dancing. Wonderful to just sit and watch!
About the area ~
The nearest beach at SA RIERA is just a 5 minute drive Sa Riera is an old fishing village which has been revamped but still retains its charm. There are several waterfront restaurants and a few shops, bars and cafes. The beachside is littered with pretty fishermens cottages, many of which are now holiday homes Within 10-15 minutes are the excellent beaches and coastal villages of AIGUABLAVA, TAMARIU, CALELLA DE PALAFRUGELL and LLAFRANC.

General information on the area ~
This is the unspoilt COSTA BRAVA or CATALUNYA which is free from large Tour Operated holidays and where most of the properties are owned by Barcelonians. It is rarely overcrowded and has retained real Spanish charm without a souvenir shop in sight! This is an area you will want to return to again and again.... Every day there will be a different place of interest to visit, be it a cultural pursuit or another sundrenched sandy cove with clear water to while away the day. All the coastal resorts here have waterfront restuarants, cafes and shops and it is a real pleasure to wander the little streets around the front and enjoy the spectacular scenery that this rugged coastline offers. Development here is mainly villas as the terrain does not allow for large apartment blocks and the coastline remains intact with some wonderful coastal path walks.
There are many other places of interest including Salvador Dali`s castle at PUBOL and his amazing museum at Figueres, where you cannot fail to be drawn in by his diverse art. At La Bisbal the streets are littered with ceramic shops and there is also an antique centre. Girona is a wonderful small city to visit, known as mini-Barcelona, with its own charming ramblas and interesting shops and pavement restaurants. Barcelona, if you crave city life, is one hour by train from Flaca (20mins by car from Begur) and here you can leave your car and get right into the centre of Barcelona by train.
The border of France is approximately one hour away but you will find all you need and more in this beautiful and charming unspoilt region of Spain, Costa Brava.
