Cortijo Aluna offers a smart, one-bedroom apartment built to a high standard, on a quiet farm surrounded by terraced fields and orchards. Just a 15 min stroll from the market town of Orgiva, La Aluna has all the advantages of nearness to shops and bars, plus beautiful views of the mountains, flowing streams and acequias, wild flowers and many birds (spot the golden oriels in spring and early summer), and stunning sunsets through four large, west-facing windows. Theres a sofa bed in the living room which allows 2 more people or children to sleep.
There´s a private terrace for sun, shade and BBQ´s. Visitors are welcome to explore the farm and help themselves to fruit and nuts in season, and have sole use of the large swimming pool (8x4m) which has clean, filtered water and is usually available from May to September.

Notes
The English speaking owners have lived in the area for 24 years and can advise you about local information and places of interest. We are in touch with many people in the community (Spanish and English) with special skills such as massage, shiatsu, reiki, astrology, aromatherapy and reflexology. Yoga classes are held just 5 mins away. You may opt for total relaxation by the pool absorbing the plentiful sunshine. But, if you like, we can help you arrange tailored walks in the mountains with experienced guides, visits to the Alhambra in Granada, snowboarding, days at the beach, horse riding, or chauffered day trips around the area. However, a hired car is very useful and there is vine-shaded parking next to the casita.

We raised our children in a farmhouse we built in the high Sierra de Cañar, above Órgiva. As teenagers they wanted to be close to their friends so we sold up, bought land near to Órgiva in 2000, and built this house. We love being in the "campo" surrounded by fields and orchards and still enjoy the birds, wild flowers and peacefulness - but it's great to have easy access to shops and bars, and easy routes to Granada and the coast. we stayed here for a week,but it felt more like a month.a great place to relax with a great pool and just for us.very secluded and peaceful,fantastic view of thunder storms,we enjoyed squeezing freshly picked oranges 4 breakfast and sitting on the wee terrace overlooking the valley where we could chillout with a vino or two and bbq fresh products from orgiva.Pam and Alan are a great couple and we would recommend the reiki massage from alan.all in all a great place to unwind.

Just what we wanted

We were looking for a quiet place where we could do a little work (photography, illustration) and take long breaks. This place is just great for that. Apart from the fact that there are many dog lovers in Orgiva and they can be a bit loud sometimes, this place is paradise for us. We loved the walk (of about a kilometer) to the center of the village to have lunch/dinner. On the walk back we got to watch amazing starry night skies. The private pool is kept very clean, you can lie down in the grass or on the two deck chairs and most of the time there's some shadow and very often there's a nice and soft breeze. Breakfast on your own private, small terrace with a fantastic view on the mountains. the interior is simple and for us quite perfect. We don't like to have too much stuff around us that we don't use. We could sleep, shower, cook, watch a little television, work and study at the work/dinnertable and swim. Plus there's a yoga school a 100 meters up the road. We went twice a week. The teacher, Brenda, is one of the best I ever had. It's really great doing outdoor yoga in a very relaxed atmosphere and being guided by such a knowledgable teacher with a great sense of humor. The villagers are very nice and helpful (we don't speak Spanish very well). There's a very good supermarket, many small restaurants you can pick from. The owners are very friendly, helpful people and were there for us if we needed something. Very easy. It all depends on your life style I guess, but for us it was two weeks of heaven.
