Puerto de Mazarron is located on the South Eastern corner of Spain, to the West of the historic city of Cartegena. There are excellent road links and airports at Alicante and Murcia-San Javier Airport. Mazarron boasts some of the best beaches in Spain and a wonderful climate; the area is relatively undeveloped when compared to the more popular Spanish Costas and as such provides an excellent location for a family holiday.

Mazarron is actually two towns in one. There is the main town with its town hall, daily indoor fresh produce market, banks, medical facilities, shops etc.

Then, there is its pretty seafront sister, Puerto de Mazarron.

The coast town of Puerto de Mazarron is known as the Cornwall of Spain with its pretty coves and harbours and pedestrianised walkways.
The coastline of Puerto has many kilometres of fine unspoilt sandy beaches with safe bathing. The town has been awarded the Blue Flag for water quality over consecutive years and The World Health Organisation recently declared the province of Murcia the cleanest area in Spain with the least industrial pollution.

During the long hot summer months, the water temperature in La Costa Calida rises to that of a warm bath providing safe bathing for children.

By car both journeys are mainly motorway straight forward and well signposted for Mazarron, then Puerto de Mazarron. The urbanization El Alcolar is on the beach at the end of the Paseo.

Travelling time to Puerto de Mazarron:

1½ hours from Alicante Airport.
45 mins from Murcia Airport - San Javier.

Azahar III Apartment - El Alcolar is a complex of 12 Apartments with a communal pool with childrens section. Its recognised as one of the best in the area and is sort after by both local and foreign holiday makers.

The beach, promenade and new Marina is where you can find many reasonably priced bars and restaurants within 5-10 minutes walk.

Review of Appt in Puerto de Mazarron

The apartment was lovely - clean,bright & airy,plus tastefully decorated. Facilities/equipment - fine,although the kettle could do with being de-furred & the mattress in the double room was very soft. However,TV & CD Player & Iron all fine.Plus,all kitchen equipment & bathroom good. We were met on arrival with no problems & the neighbors were friendly. Puerto de Mazarron itself comes over as being abit unloved as there are many apartments / buildings for sale,however we did visit out of season. The beach/sea is excellent,lovely & sandy with shallow waters. There are plenty of nice & inexpensive restaurants (La Cofradia,Chez Zoe,Peyma & a Chinese called Gran Mundos to name a few) if you wish to eat out & a large Supermarket for provisions. The Roman,fish salting factory museum is interesting,although it's a shame it's only in Spanish,but you can still get the gist. The neighboring village of Bolneuvo is well worth a visit with it's interesting & unusual rock formations.Very good restaurant/tapas bar there called Oasis de la Campas. Overall - we thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay.

Puerto de Mazarron

Apartment was very nicely equipped in a quiet residential area but close to the beach and the amenities. The town was nice as was the beach front with many reasonable local restuarants, seriving mainly traditional spanish food which was what we wanted. The architects who built the apartment blocks on the beachfront need shooting however! This resort was probably very beautiful before 1980. We wanted a fairly typical resort for the Spanish rather than the british and we pretty much got and we would probably visit the area again and do a litte more exploring. We did visit Cartegena and that was fabulous and would recommend yuou visit for a day.
