A 20 minute drive down the valley takes you to the palm fringed beaches and ‘hidden’ coves of Almuñécar, Salobreña and La Herradura.
Spain's premier ski resort, Sierra Nevada, is only 90 mins drive door to door, with skiing/snowboarding in the winter and spectacular hiking the rest of the year.
Nearby is Marina Del Este with a variety of suberb quayside restaurants overlooking the busy harbour.
The Costa Tropical remains Spain´s best kept secret, always popular with Spanish families and delightfully unspoilt.
This is an excellent base for exploring the rugged coastline and scenic interior.
Granada and the World Heritage Alhambra Palace are 60 mins away and nearby are the pretty, whitewashed, Moorish villages of Otívar, Lentejí and Jete with their traditional bars and restaurants.
Wine Connoisseurs - Visit the local village Bodega of Horacio Calvente which produces some excellent wines, one of which is featured in Neil Becket's annual tome '1001 Wines You Must Try Before You Die'. They were also stocked by the "Best Restaurant in the World" - El Bulli in Barcelona.
The Alpujarras, made famous by Chris Stewart in Driving Over Lemons is 30 mins away.
The perfect location for rural pursuits, beach activities or for a relaxing, get away from it all break.
10 mins away is a British/Scandinavian owned Activity Centre offering Mountain Biking, Road Cycling, Hiking, Triathlon, and Personal Fitness Training. Whether an individually tailored,leisurely guided tour or a full-on extreme expedition. From beginner to expert, you'll certainly enjoy the landscape.
Admire the spectacular sunsets over the mountains. There are stunning views from every window.
Straight out of the front gates there is a huge variety of hill & mountain walks, for those wanting more gentle slopes to those looking for more challenging or longer hikes.
You may well be lucky enough to see some of the diverse wildlife including deer, mountain goats, and birds such as the colourful bee-eaters, eagles, honey buzzards and kestrels. The scent of wild thyme and rosemary will accompany you.
River walking through the cool, clear mountain waterfalls of Otívar has been a highlight for many summer guests.
The famous 5 million years old Nerja Caves are 40 minutes away, a must see is the centre column in the Sala del Cataclismo (Cataclysm Hall) which reaches a height of 32 metres.
For the more culturally minded there is the poet Lorca’s house/museum near Granada, and the Picasso gallery/museum in Málaga.
And for history lovers the area is steeped in Moorish influences, as well as some of the darker moments of the Spanish Civil War where until the 1950s men were still hiding in the surrounding mountains.
Nearby there is boat hire, mountain biking, golf, riding, tennis, parascending, water skiing, sailing, windsurfing, diving, archery, 4x4 trips, rock climbing and a Kite Surfing School.
The villa has table tennis, a net for pool volleyball, WiFi internet access, Sky free to view, DVD player and a selection of DVDs, books and games.
Also a friendly local taxi service if you don´t feel like driving back!
