Duplex townhouse built on the natural rock of Salobreña, situated in a quiet cul-de-sac of the Old Town. Designed combining modern comfort with local andalusian character. Luminous and tastefully decorated with a touch of vintage.
Built in the early 1960´s, Al Salam 8 has 75sqm distributed in 3 levels: an independent entrance in calle Al Salam, and two floors facing a pedestrian alley paralel to Al Salam. It has a southeast orientation and mantains a mild temperature all year round. Since 2005 I have renovated the house respecting its original flair. It is now an ideal base in which to spend a holiday exploring the area. It is an ideal place for people seeking a peaceful, relaxing holiday who enjoy watching the daily goings-on of the town. It is not a beachfront apartment, although it is only a 10 minute walk from the local beach, popular with young people and families. Stairs by nearby Calle La Granja take you to the town centre in 5 minutes; it’s a 10-15 minute walk down to the beachfront.
1st floor: open plan kitchen with dining area, large living area with a comfortable leather sofa, and a small terrace perfect for alfresco dining. The original stone wall is a beautiful feature of the property and has a dimmer switch for cosy evenings. Downstairs, two quiet bedrooms, a slate tiled bathroom with a huge built it bathtub, and a utility room. Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and face a quiet pedestrian street, ensuring a good night's sleep.
The house SouthEast orientation (no Poniente winds) ensures morning sunshine and calm, cool nights. Being built on the slope of the mountain it has the surprising effect of keeping a very pleasant temperature both in summer and winter. There is easy access with the car up to the front door and parking spaces can be found outside. A local supermarket is conviently located within yards of the property. The terrace is South East oriented and is just perfect to read or eat, it gets the morning sun and is nice and cool in the evenings. Car access to the front door, parking spaces available nearby. No traffic noise and safe for children.
Salobrena is a Moorish white town perched on a rocky outcrop surrounded by a sea of sugar cane fields and tropical fruits contrasting with the intense blue of the Mediterranean. The town centre is made up of several neighbourhoods built within the town walls during the Middle Ages; Albaycin, de la Loma, el Brocal and la Fuente are still maintained in their original Medieval layout of labyrinths, winding streets, passageways, arches and geranium covered windows.
The Costa Tropical is a small stretch of coast line nestled in between the Costa del Sol and Costa Almeria. Although only 60km in length, it boasts some of the most beautiful coastline and beaches with breathtaking journeys along its jagged coastline enabling the more adventurous to find that perfect hide-away for soaking up some Mediterranean sun.
There is good scuba diving in La Herradura, a 20 minute drive away from Salobreña.The most southern european skiing resort, Sierra Nevada, is just 1 hour away, next to the city of Granada. The alpujarras is a mountainous area of remote villages that are strongly recommended to be be visited.
