Algarrobo

Algarrobo village is a charming whitewashed village set in a majestic mountainous landscape in the Axarquia region, offering spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea. The village still retains a Moorish feel and the Rio (River) Algarrobo snakes through the village, giving it a very pleasant and natural feel.

The village is connected by road to the costal resort of Algarrobo-Costa, which is just 3 kilometres away, not far from Torre del Mar. The town is approximately 40 kilometres to the east of the city of Málaga, a journey of around 30 minutes.

Algarrobo village is the perfect place to enjoy a holiday away from the hustle and bustle, yet still be close enough to the action to enjoy it when the fancy takes you. With the attractions of Málaga just 30 minutes away, it's a wonderful spot for a getaway.

Places to see
Agarrobo is the starting point for the Route of Sun and Wine, which takes visitors through local vineyards, down to the natural coastal area of Torrox Costa and to the interesting monuments of the Castle Bago and Torre del Morche and Torre de Calaceite. The route stops at the coastal resort of Nerja.

Algarrobo Costa is a highly touristic area, with pleasant beaches and lots of attractions and facilities for holidaymakers.

History
Algarrobo dates back to Prehistoric age, in fact remains dating from the Bronze Age, Phoenician and Romans hav been found in the local area at El Moro de Mezquitilla.

Beaches
Algarrobo-Costa has a very pleasant beach. Visiting neighbouring Torre del Mar you will find more wide, sumptuous beaches. To the east of Algarrobo-Costa there are a number of other quieter coastal villages including Mezquitilla and Lagos, which are both charming seaside fishing villages.

Golf
The newly completed and highly attractive Baviera Golf Course is just a 10 minute drive away from Algarrobo.

Cuisine
There are a number of cafés, restaurants and tapas bars in Algarrobo, which are well worth trying out. Ir de Tapeo (go for Tapas) is always a relaxed, inexpensive way to dine out. On the coast you will find Chiringuitos (beach restaurants) who specialise in the tastiest, freshest seafood.

Climate
Algarrobo enjoys the sub-tropical Mediterranean climate with hot summers and warm winters. Algarrobo’s close proximity to the sea affords cooling breezes, which make the summer heat manageable; temperatures average 32 ºC in summer.

Nothing in it for tourists. Not a holiday location.
