Ribera d'Ebre

Ribera d’Ebre is a beautiful district on the Costa Dorada, in Catalonia, between the Mediterranean coast and Els Port Massif; located along both sides of the Ebre River, in the valley of the same name, Ribera d’Ebre and the region of Terres de l’Ebre.

Made up of 14 towns, with Mora d’Ebre as the capital, Ribera d’Ebre has so much to offer. The stunning natural region is home to beautiful landscapes, ecosystems and a rich heritage. Els

The nearest airport is Reus in the region of Tarragona.

Towns in Ribera d’Ebre
The main town in the municipal is Mora d’Ebre, but the main tourist attractions can be found in the towns of Miravet, Fiix, Riba-Roja and Tivissa.

The municipal towns exude a distinctly Templar and Muslim feel; the many local churches have the stamp of the expulsion of the Moorish inhabitants. Local ruins mark the bloody Battle of the Ebro River that took place during the Spanish civil war in 1938.

Local attractions and routes
There are some designated routes, which take the visitor around different cultural attractions around the local region: the Ruta dels Ibers (Iberian Route), the Ruta del Temple (Temple Route) and the Camí de Sirga (Tow Path).

With the River Ebre flowing through the region, the landscape is abundant with flora and fauna, a rich biodiversity makes it an excellent destination for those looking to embark on a sustainable holiday, surrounded by natural beauty and wildlife. Designated routes and natural trails will take you on a journey along the Ebre River, the Delta and the Els Port Massif.  The Ebre Delta National Park provides the perfect terrain for walks, hikes, cycling and other outdoor pursuits.

Costa Dorada coastline
Around an hour’s drive, visitors can enjoy the stunning coastline of the Costa Dorada. The nearest resorts include Cambrils, Salou and Miami Playa.

The roman capital of the Costa Dorada, Tarragona, is just 59 kilometres drive and well worth a visit, for its cultural richness, gastronomy and local beaches.

Port Aventura theme park is also close by and well worth a visit for the whole family.

Cuisine
With its situation set in Catalonia, yet close to both Aragon and the Basque Country; the local gastronomy mixes recipes and produce from all three regions and the result is delicious.

Produce from the sea and mountains; roasted meats (sausages, rabbit and lamb), or sardines in the typical Catalan dish of Clotxa, hollowed out bread stuffed with sardines and roasted vegetables.

Foodie enthusiasts can follow the Rice Route, the Oyster Route and the Terra Alta Wine Route the Ebre Delta.

Climate
Ribera d’Ebre is favoured by a typical Mediterranean climate. Temperatures range between 10 degrees in the winter and 35 degrees during the summer months. The area enjoys sunny days all throughout the year.
