Urban beaches of Salou

From the city centre, the promenade Jaume I borders the urban beaches of the town and they stretch down to the promenade of Miramar. These urban beaches are one of the reasons why Salou achieved the title of Family Tourism Destination. They are located just a step away from the centre, are fully accessible, have lifeguards and their waters are clean and quiet. Imagine staying in a holiday home in Salou and being able to reach the beach comfortably.

Platja Llevant

The beach of Llevant or Levante is the main beach of Salou therefore is one of the most popular. Close to the centre and surrounded by the brand new promenade of Jaume I, this beach offers all services and amenities, so if you don't mind being surrounded by towels, families and groups of friends, you will surely enjoy it.

Along its 1.2 kilometres we will find a lot of bars, playgrounds and rental services for hammocks and umbrellas. Everything is designed to be enjoyed by the family, during the high season workshops are organised in the playground which will delight the little ones.

From the beach of Llevant we can access the Nautical Club of Salou, where we can practice all kinds of water sports: sailing, kayaking, jet skis... This beach has everything you need to enjoy the good weather and come back from your holidays with a bunch of new experiences.

Platja Ponent

The beaches of Ponent and Llevant are the one you will see on the typical Mediterranean postcards: long beaches of golden sand, crystal clear waters, palm trees and lots of towels and people strolling. Platja Ponent is made up of more than a kilometre of fine sand and crystalline, shallow and quiet waters and is the natural extension of Platja Levant. Its proximity to the centre of Salou, easy access and all the services offered make it one of the beaches preferred by families.

Same as the Levante beach, the beach of Poniente runs parallel to the promenade of Sant Jaume I, one reason why its access could not be simpler. To relax in the sun, we have the option to rent sunbeds and sun loungers. In addition, for people with reduced mobility, there is the possibility of renting amphibious chairs so they can cool off in the Mediterranean.

Platja Capellans

Just a half kilometre away from the centre of Salou, we find this small 200-metre-long cove. Its golden sand and calm, clear waters make it very popular with tourists and locals as it is very comfortable and safe.

From one end, we can access the Camino de Ronda, a hiking route that borders the coast of the Cabo de Salou revealing small coves and cliffs. Again, the beach is very safe since its slope is very smooth and it has lifeguard services.

Platja Llarga

If we go justr outside of the city centre, we will find this jewel on the coast of Salou. It is an example of the perfect symbiosis between mountain and sea. Surrounded by a pine forest where we can enjoy a picnic in the shade, this semi-urban beach stretches 600 metres of fine golden sand and clear waters.

The best you can do is arrive in the morning so you can enjoy the calm of nature because after few hours it fills up with people. There is possibility to rent sunbeds, deckchairs, umbrellas and even roller blades to have a ride along the seafront that borders it.

At Playa Larga we can practice all kinds of water sports, from jet skis to ski bus rides or enjoy the sea and coastal views from a pedalo, which also are available for rent.

Little coves on Cabo de Salou

The urban beaches of Salou are very comfortable if we travel with family and we do not want to worry about anything, but the true magic of the Mediterranean lies in the coves hidden between the cliffs of the Cabo de Salou. Don't miss the spectacular beauty of these charming beaches and if you're lucky enough you could even stay in one of the lovely holiday homes near the beach in Salou

Cala Llenguadets

Along the Camino de Ronda we will reach this small cove of no more than 125 metres long. It is very close to the beach of Capellans, separated by the Punta del Porroig. You can only get there by foot and the access is a little more complicated. You have to take the stairs, but the effort is worth it because in the area we can still find the bunkers which were built during the Spanish Civil War.

On the beach you can rent hammocks and cool off in the only beach bar in this area. We recommend staying until dusk, sunsets here are some of the most beautiful on Costa Dorada.

Cala Font

This semi-urban cove is located in the most touristic section of the Cabo de Salou and this is the reason why it's so popular. However, its natural surroundings, flanked by pines and rocks as well as the quality of its seabed, make it one of our favourite beaches.

The beach is well known among snorkelers as its calm crystal clear waters and the rocks that appear all along the coastal stretch give it a unique underwater beauty. It is also the most common anchoring point in the area, as the sea is very calm and the views from the coast are spectacular. For these who are looking for some extra comfort there is a spot where you can hire sun loungers and umbrellas.

Next to the Cala Font we will find a smaller cove, known as Cala Vinya or Cala Pinetell, only 35 metres long and 60 metres wide, where all kinds of services can be found.

Cala Penya Tallada

If you want to enjoy the tranquility without having to worry about finding a place to lay your towel, we recommend this adorable cove. It's 125 metres long and 10 metres wide and it's surrounded by vegetation, so the aroma of pines permeates the whole environment.

Penya Tallada could be translated as "cut rock". The beach took it's name from a rock formation that goes into the sea, that has been eroded into a wall that divides it from another, much smaller and intimate cove known as Les Mabres.

Cala Penya Tallada
Thanks to its location, Penya Tallada cove is not that popular and is little known by tourists, so it never becomes stressful or crowded. In this cove we will not find any kind of services and that's precisely why we can focus just on disconnecting and enjoying the surrounding nature and sea.

To get there we can go by foot, through the Camino de Ronda or by local bus, which stops 200 metres from the beach.

Cala Crancs

Cala Crancs is the last beach located on the Cabo de Salou. It is well known, especially among families traveling with small children, since the water here is very quiet and shallow. The beach is 80 metres long and 45 metres wide, we can rent sunbeds, umbrellas and hammocks here.

There are few ways to reach Cala Crancs: by car, local bus or walking through the Camino de Ronda. To enjoy incredible views of the sea and the natural surroundings of the Cabo de Salou, we recommend you to climb the natural terraces that are located on the hill on one side. Also your kids will be more than happy playing in the little playground hidden under the shade of pines while you can enjoy nice coastal views sitting on one of the benches.
