Tamariu

Tamariu is a picturesque coastal village situated on the Costa Brava, it belongs to the municipality of Palafrugell, which also incorporates the bay towns of Llafranc and Calella de Palafrugell.

The beautiful bay with its pine-clad backdrop is typical of the coastal region of Girona. From Tamariu visitors can explore the rest of the regions coves and bays, and the delightful historic towns that are dotted through the landscape.

Around Tamariu

The scenic bay is literally home to just a few traditional houses, villas and apartments, and a handful of bars and restaurants that encompass the beach.

Tamariu is literally the place to kick back and relax and enjoy the beautiful bays and coves, the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean and the delicious cuisine of the local region.

Beach

The sandy cove of Tamariu shelves down to the most wonderful crystal clear waters, which are some of the purest on this coastline. It is also a popular diving site, as there are many caves to explore along the submerged mountain of Llosa de Cala Nova. There is a dive centre in the local village.

Places to visit

The upmarket resort of Llafranc is just four kilometres away, and you could visit a new bay or cove everyday of your holiday if you wished – Aigua Blava, Fornells and Calella de Palafrugell.

The region’s cultural capital Girona is situated just 58 kilometres from Tamariu, Barcelona is 128 kilometres and the French border just 130 kilometres.

Climate
Most of the time Tamariu basks in warm sunshine; the summers are long, with the heat alleviated by gentle breezes caressing the verdant and sometimes sylvan landscape where here and there mountains tumble down towards a crystal sea.
Autumn and spring weather is mostly fine, with clear skies and thoroughly agreeable temperatures. The short winter can be wet and windy at times. However it is not unusual in January to have mild, sunny days and diving conditions are good all year round.

City review

Tamariu is small but well formed. The beach and surrounding restaurants are lovely and it is not far to reach Llafranc and Calella. All in all it is a lovely place to visit.

Coast review

The coastline of the Costa Brava is as it says a bit wild, but there are lovely sheltered coves and rocks jutting out which makes it more interesting than many beaches.
