January 4th, 2012 by Louise Juhlin

Louise Juhlin
As we all might know by now is that Spain is famous for its many wild, crazy and loud festivals, and the madness of La Tamborrada in San Sebastian is no exception.  The tradition of the massive drum festival, La Tamborrada, is without a doubt Spain’s highlight event in January (after the Three Kings that is..) and can even be considered as Spain´s noisiest festival.

A magical place serving Malagas best wines

December 29th, 2011 by Louise Juhlin

Louise Juhlin
The Bodega-Bar El Pimpi is a classic and well worth a visit when discovering the main city along the Costa del Sol, Malaga. The bodega is located right in the heart of the historic centre adjacent to the Picasso Museum and the famous square Plaza de la Merced. The place is magical. Along Malaga´s narrow streets an old wooden door opens up to a world of pretty patios, inner courtyards and a beautiful Andalusian tiled bodega with lots of charisma.

Barcelona is the perfect destination to discover during a short weekend break. A weekend in Barcelona will give you the choice to get a taste of what the city has to offer and will also allow you to see some of the most important landmark monuments of this century. To sum up all what Barcelona has to offer in one weekend this is my recommendation of what to see, where to eat and where to stay to get the most out of the city.

Malaga is many times overlooked by tourists that travel to the capital´s airport to then rush to the coastal towns to start their holidays. A shame, as Malaga is a great place to enjoy a true piece of Spain with a vast cultural influence on the sunny coast, Costa del Sol.  For example were you aware of Malaga Soho and the local artists market? If not then you should continue reading…

Costa de la Luz is often associated with the rich tuna fish dishes from the area. For centuries the tuna fish caught along the coast has provided the towns with a major source of income, but unique to other parts of the world is the way in which the tuna fish is caught, The Almadraba way. A special technique used since the time of the Romans.

Once a dead spot, now an icon in Seville

October 6th, 2011 by Louise Juhlin

Louise Juhlin
Plaza de la Encarnacion was once a dead spot used as a parking lot right in the middle of Seville, today the area boasts a new landmark icon which is the world’s largest wooden structure.  The innovative modern structure holds a strong contrast to the surrounding medieval buildings in the city, and it´s name is the Metropol Parasol.  The Parasol is often referred to as a “honeycombed mushroom” or “a giant waffle”, and yes there might be some truth in that, the fact is that the structure is definitely “one of a kind” and standing beneath it will have your imagination go wild.

3200 Hours of Sunshine in Conil

October 4th, 2011 by Louise Juhlin

Louise Juhlin
It surprises me that sun seeking travelers always heading for the south of Spain mostly end up on the Costa del Sol. If one is really looking for endless kilometers of peaceful sandy beaches and year-round sunshine the place to be is “Costa de la Luz”. The name says it all, The Light Coast. One specific place that shouldn’t be overlooked for that relaxing beach holiday is Conil de la Frontera.

September 23rd, 2011 by Louise Juhlin

Louise Juhlin
It was year 1805 in Cape Trafalgar in southern Spain, and it was war, the War of the Third Coalition.  A vicious sea battle was fought between the British Royal Navy, the Spanish Navy and the French Navy. Not one single British ship was lost, and the British held the victory defeating 35 Spanish and French ships. Two centuries later the battle will continue. One battle, three countries, and one goal; to win.  October 2011 the weapons, cannons and ships will be replaced with wind, boards and kites, Red Bull is sponsoring the kite surfing event; The Battle of Trafalgar!

The squares of Gracia, Barcelona

September 16th, 2011 by Louise Juhlin

Louise Juhlin
The pretty residential area of Gracia in Barcelona city is one of the city’s most charming neighbourhoods. The area lies just north of the Passeig de Gracia, and is within walking distance from the city centres main attractions. Once a separate village detached from the boundary walls of Barcelona´s Gothic centre, Gracia has long been known for its political fighting spirit demanding that the neighbourhood become independent. Nevertheless, this is nothing that will affect holidaymakers whom would like to enjoy a lovely day strolling around the squares of this bohemian and trendy area.

You have probably seen them all around the European capitals, and some might say that it is a cheesy tourist attraction, but I would like to correct them on that, The Hop-on Hop-off buses are great! In Madrid the bus service was suspended for the last eight months, but the good news is that they are now back and running!
