The T.V. comedy show currently running on British screens portrays high rise, all inclusive package holidays, with poolside fun.  Well, you can have all this, and more, in Benidorm – Costa Blanca- today.  The originator of Sea, Sand and Sangria and fun in the sun….

Manhattan, Las Vegas or Spain?

With the skyline protruding from the Costa Blanca, and the sheer energy when the sun slips down over the Mediterranean sea, you might wonder!

The innumerable discos and Las Vegas style shows which line the resort will keep you partying until the sun comes up again, and beyond.  This is the place for party-goers with mammoth energy levels, and this year in August from the 24th until the 27th, Benidorm is the host to the Electro Beach Festival, 4 days of music for just 40€. Before that  – in June -  the oddly named Low Cost Festival runs from the 21st until the 23rd – 3 days of Alternative Rock and Independent bands perform for 60€.  Start on the multi vitamins now….

Time out

As beaches go, this one covers 6.5kms of golden sand, family friendly and safe.  If the kids want something more (don’t they always?!) just an hour away what about the Safari Park Vergel near Pego (by Dénia) which has lions and tigers roaming freely…..but I suggest not in the hire car!

The huge theme park of Terra Mítica offers screams and more fun, and Aqualandia….you guessed it…..is the marine park.

Just splashin’ around…

Back to that beach, or rather to the water, whether you like windsurfing, diving, sailing, or fancy a mini cruise to one of the off-shore islands…well, it’s all here under the Benidorm sun for you to enjoy.  Self cater and suit yourself, the best option for freedom of choice, just look at this selection of Costa Blanca hot properties.

Out and About

If you’ve hired a car then take the chance to explore the nearby towns of Moraira, Calpe and Altea, for a little peace and quiet after you have expended all your energy, there’s also a solution for topping it up….just take a trip to La Vila Joiosa and indulge yourself  at Valor the traditional chocolate – makers, the factory has a Museum of Chocolate…yum!  Walk it off with a stroll along the river bed and admire the line of brightly coloured houses that overhang -  the reason behind the colours was so that their fishermen owners could easily identify them whilst sailing in….

A day trip to Altea

A tale before Bedtime

We all love a legend, Benidorm has a special one.  Look behind the resort to see a mountain with a strangely shaped piece taken out, identical to a little islet close by. A giant once lived who had a lady love about to die when the sun went down, so in despair he ripped a piece of the mountain out and threw it towards the sea as the sun made it’s way behind the summit to buy a little more time – it landed as the islet! One to tell the kids at bedtime from the comfort of your chosen accommodation!
