About Cafe del Mar
Located in San Antonide de Portmany (San Antoni), Ibiza. The bar was founded by Ramón Guiral, Carlos Andrea, and José Les. First opened to the public in the summer of 1980. Over the years Cafe del Mar has gained in popularity.
The music is increasingly used for important events, such as when Spain held the presidency of the European Union, in 2002. A CD was compiled with images of Spain’s politicians to the backdrop of Cafe del Mar music. In 2005, the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera awarded Cafe del Mar, the ‘Island Prize’ for its outstanding work.
When to go
The idea behind Cafe del Mar is very simple, people turn up just before the sun sets over the shores of the Calo des Moro bay, find a place on the sand or inside the bar itself and enjoy a fantastic sunset listening to great music.
