Well, we’re still here. The End Of The World wasn’t nigh, as it turned out. Lucky us. Luckier still, for some this morning , waking up the day after El Gordo – the famous Spanish Christmas Lottery. No, I didn’t win – or I wouldn’t be sitting here writing this! – but if I had, I think I would be booking myself and my friends and family into a little bit of luxury for Christmas. Not a hotel – too impersonal – but a stunning high end rental property. Now, let’s just imagine for a moment that we had the winning ticket….Where shall we go? Where’s that chauffeur?

Mountains of…Marbella?

Away from the yachts and glitz that encompasses the spirit that is upmarket Marbella, on the Costa del Sol, in the sunny south of Spain, you can do more than celebrity spotting if you venture a little way further north.
In the news this week is the little known mountainous region of Sierra de Las Nieves, not quite as breathtakingly immense as it’s similarly named cousin, the Sierra Nevada, but just as beautiful.

Cabopino Port – Understated but definitely not overrated!

The port of Cabopino, to the east of Marbella, in Andalusia, is rather inconspicuous compared to the other nearby heavyweights of Puerto Banus and Benalmadena. Indeed it’s hard to imagine Sean Connery mooring his 12 million dollar baby or spotting King Fahd’s monster yacht sailing in. But the fact that Cabopino is still somewhat of a secret along the Costa del Sol is makes it so appealing…
