May 21st, 2013 by Carol Byrne
What? The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain, doesn’t it? Well, it’s not great today – but the good news is, it will warm up later this week. There aren’t many wet days at this time of year in sunny Southern Spain, but sometimes it can happen! What’s to do on a rainy day? How about a bit of shopping? Top Nudist Beaches around Málaga
May 10th, 2013 by Carol Byrne
Airlines now are just so tight with luggage restrictions. 10kg seems to go nowhere if you choose to just travel with hand baggage. Wouldn’t it be easier to leave all the beach paraphernalia at home?!
Seriously, by the time you have UN-checked all those opt out boxes – when did that happen? – and booked your Málaga flight, you’ll want to keep luggage as light as possible. Unless you wear it all for the flight - dressed like an onion – then perhaps it would make a change to go natural – let’s take a look – hey, not too closely – at the top nudist beaches around Málaga.

City Heat – Top 5 City Breaks in Spain
April 29th, 2013 by Carol Byrne
City breaks – our favourite type of mini break and the total antithesis from where we live. A rural setting in some of the cleanest air in Europe is wonderful but sometimes a little bit of carbon monoxide is called for! A few short days in the city is a treat and a cultural top up, and needn’t cost the earth either. Spanish cities are worth exploring more than most. Let’s take a quick look at the Top 5 city breaks in Spain, for that next weekend away.

Holy Week and Easter in Spain
March 18th, 2013 by Carol Byrne
Easter. What does it conjure up for you? Chocolate. Easter Eggs. The Easter Bunny. More solemnly, Religion?
Somehow, sunshine figures somewhere in there too, why do all childhood memories of Easter involve yellow ribbons and sunshine? But you can still have some sunshine too, not if you stay at home, but come instead to sunny Spain for Semana Santa – probably the biggest and most important date on the Spanish calender.

St Patrick in Spain – The Luck of the Irish!
March 16th, 2013 by Carol Byrne
Tomorrow, the 17th of March, is the feast day of St Patrick. New York will hold the BIGGEST parade, and undoubtedly Ireland will drink the MOST pints of Guinness – well, you have to ‘wet the shamrock’! But where did Paddy go on his holidays? Why, Spain of course…You didn’t know that, really?! This year there’s an extra green connection between Ireland and Spain, of the global awareness kind.

A Ramble around Ronda
March 14th, 2013 by Carol Byrne
Pop stars and politicians, poets and songwriters, authors and of course, us ordinary folk, we can’t be all wrong, can we?
Ronda remains one of the most visited places in Spain, for good reason, in fact, lots of reasons. One glance, your first glance, at the town perched high on a precipitous ledge, overlooking and surrounded by lush green valleys, and you’ll need no further explanation.
Filled with many gems, architectural and historic, let’s take a ramble around the Spanish diamond that is Ronda.

Torrox – it’s a Tale of 3…Pueblos!
March 13th, 2013 by Carol Byrne
Torrox is a pueblo – or rather 3 different destinations – not too far from the airport at Málaga. It comprises the coastal resort, a hilly traditional pueblo, and even a bit in between! We stayed there last year for a few days on a bargain break, just to take the edge out of Autumn on our mountain, and grab a little downtime. Mostly, we speed past on the way to the airport, glancing right and left, alternating between the calm sea and the little villages and larger towns as we pass. But a few days there was a great idea, as it happens, so let me take you on a tour of Torrox.

Every picture tells a story in the province of Malaga
January 24th, 2013 by vernon
Delving into your collection of photographs from Spain can bring back all sorts of memories.
Of days in the sunshine. Of time spent on the beach or in the countryside of a country in which the landscape changes as you move from one province to another.
Some of my favourite pictures were taken in the countryside, including in the province of Malaga.

Spain by night
January 14th, 2013 by vernon
One of the best aspects about holidaying in Spain is that you can see so much in the evening.
At almost all times of the year, and in the majority of destinations, it is warm enough to wander the streets of a Spanish city, town or coastal location and savour all that is on offer.
And there is little finer than doing what the locals do at night. Promenading!

A fiesta of crumbs? Not so meagre Migas
November 20th, 2012 by Carol Byrne
You might be forgiven for thinking that Migas is a Spanish holiday destination. It’s not, in fact it’s a traditional dish served here in Spain and eaten with gusto….as a little saucer of tapas, as a full meal, at fiestas, and never more so that the Festival of Migas in the equally traditional pueblo of Torrox, not a million miles from the ever popular Costa del Sol!
Never tried Migas? Pass your plate over then, allow me to introduce you…

It’s snow time in Spain
November 13th, 2012 by vernon
It is that time of the year. I look out of my window and what do I see. Snow.
There are still people who believe snow never finds it way to Spain, but it does. And, in some locations for many months of the year. And snow brings with it the chance to see places in Spain in a whole new light. A bright, white light.

What to do when it rains in Spain
October 20th, 2012 by vernon
It doesn’t happen very often in southern Spain, but what can do you do to pass the day when the heavens open and the rain falls on Spain?
After many months of dry weather you often get two or three days of heavy rain. So your holiday visit to the beach is off. What then?
