If one has not had the chance to see Pablo Picasso’s art in the city of Malaga, then the museum definitely deserves a visit now as they have invested over 2,75 million Euros on 72 new works from the famous Malaga born painter.

Extending the collection with 72 new pieces
Since 2004 holiday makers on the Costa del Sol have had the opportunity to visit one of the four Picasso Museums that exist in the world. Located inside a typical charming Andalusian palace from the 1700s in the center of Malaga are 155 works by the world famous artist. However since the 27 of April, 2010 the museum has extended their collection to 233 works with 72 new pieces. The museum invested 2,75 Euros on the acquired collection which consists of 22 drawings, 46 prints and 4 books showing different art techniques used during different periods of Picasso’s work.
This new permanent collection will be presented to the public in three stages. Now until July 20 visitors can admire 117 works spread over various halls in which the focus is on the different artistic stages shown in Picasso’s work during his artistic life. Visiting the museum
For those visitors who speak Spanish, a little book that is strongly recommended to buy (by the ticket counter) is: “Veo, veo. ¿Que ves? “. It is aimed primarily for families with children, but is also great for other visitors as well as it offers a fun, informative and different way to get to know the Picasso Museum in Malaga and the works shown.
Guided Tours: To explore the works on one’s own is not the same as with a guide. Picasso Museum organizes guided tours every Tuesday and Saturday from 6 pm to 7 pm. The tours are in Spanish but if you call before the tour can be arranged in English. The experience of seeing Picasso’s works while listening to wonderful anecdotes from the artist’s life is definitely a bonus.
Opening Hours: The museum is open Tuesdays to Thursdays from 10 am to 8 pm, Friday and Saturday 10 am to 9 pm, and Sundays 10 am to 8 pm, on Mondays the museum is closed.
Prices: 6€ to see the permanent collection and 4,50€ to see the temporary collection. To see both the price is 8€. On the last Sunday of every month the admission is free between 15 pm and 20 pm.
