Funky beats and groves are heading our way this autumn with a couple of Jazz festivals taking place around the country. Whether you are in Mijas, Mallorca, or Malaga you will find a long list of international artists performing at some of Spain’s leading Jazz Festivals.

It´s Jazz Time!

Mijas Jazz Festival is taking place at the Las Lagunas Theatre from the 21/10 -29/10 in Mijas town on the Costa del Sol. There will both be a mix of local and International acts performing at the 3rd edition of the promising Local Jazz Festival:

The International Jazz Festival in Malaga.

The International Jazz Festival in Malaga will have the streets come alive with its yearly Jazz festival taking place from the 7th to the 13th of November. This year there is a strong European influence mixed with world class acts such as jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove, pianist Randy Weston, Portuguese singer Maria João, and soul singer Bettye LaVette.  All the concerts will be held in either the Cervantes Theatre or the Echegaray Theatre. Echegaray Theatre will, like in the past editions, turn into a Jazz club so one can enjoy a drink while enjoying a concert.

A few of the many performing artists in this year’s festival:

Irene Lombard (Spain)

Sarah Quist Quartet (UK)

Pasadena Roof Orchestra (UK)

For Free Hands (Germany)

Balkanova (Bulgaria)

Prices range from 7€ to 60€ and tickets can be purchased at www.teatrocervantes.es.

Jazz Voyeur Festival Palma, Mallorca

Jazz Voyeur Festival is taking place in Palma, Mallorca, from the 23nd of November to the 23rd of December.  Different from the other festivals taking place is that the Voyeur Festival will also be offering forums, debates, classes and films. Something to reconsider is a short holiday break in Mallorca as the first three concerts will take place one on consecutive days:

23rd November, Tony Emmanuel and Antonio Rey

24th November, Lucky Peterson Band

25th November Christopher Cross Band

20th December, Juan Peroo

23rd December, The Late Night Gospel Choir

All concerts will be held in the city´s Principal Theatre where the tickets can also be purchased.
