It is all about the passion for Flamenco! The Jerez Flamenco Festival is the world’s leading Flamenco festival and soon it is to take place in the city of Jerez in Andalusia. The 25/02 to the 12/03/2011 are the dates to be heading south to get a feel of the colorful shows with world famous dancers, singers and guitarists.

Jerez Flamenco Festival 2011

Flamenco has come to represent Spain as a whole even though the vibrant art originated from Andalusia where Jerez has been acknowledged for being the city where it all began. With this in mind there would be no better place to hold the annual festival, which has become the largest of its kind. During the days of the festival, famous “masters” of the Flamenco world will perform and hold workshops to teach and show the different styles of the art of dancing Flamenco. The competition is fierce and many students try to claim one of the 1,000 student invitations to have the opportunity to learn from the masters. There are however many other different courses and workshops to attend and you can find a list on the festivals official website. If you are not interested in actively participating, the festival is still an experience of a lifetime and the perfect chance to see some of the outstanding performances held.  The city will be alive with stomps of tacones (heels), clacks of castanets, clapping of hands and passionate Flamenco music, live the energy by renting a holiday home in Jerez!

Unfortunately, we are just going to miss it – will be in Jerez on March 14! What a shame – hopefully there will still be some residual activities. Great photo above!
