The town of La Herradura sits 8kms west of Almunecar on the Costa Tropical. It is characterised by a spectacular bay. The beach, La Playa de la Herradura runs the length of the town and is situated between La Punta de la Mona and Cerro Gordo.

As is the case with all the coastline on the Costa Tropical, the rugged mountains seem to drop into the sea creating a setting of extraordinary beauty.

The beaches in the area are fantastic. Some of the best beaches on the Costa Tropical and Costa del Sol are all within easy reach.

Many of the best ones, are small protected coves that you need to walk down to and for some of the larger, more popular ones – such as the Playa el Canuelo, there is a bus service to take you down to the beach.
