Every picture tells a story in the province of Malaga
January 24th, 2013 by vernon
Delving into your collection of photographs from Spain can bring back all sorts of memories.
Of days in the sunshine. Of time spent on the beach or in the countryside of a country in which the landscape changes as you move from one province to another.
Some of my favourite pictures were taken in the countryside, including in the province of Malaga.

Posh property in Spain
December 23rd, 2012 by Carol Byrne
Well, we’re still here. The End Of The World wasn’t nigh, as it turned out. Lucky us. Luckier still, for some this morning , waking up the day after El Gordo – the famous Spanish Christmas Lottery. No, I didn’t win – or I wouldn’t be sitting here writing this! – but if I had, I think I would be booking myself and my friends and family into a little bit of luxury for Christmas. Not a hotel – too impersonal – but a stunning high end rental property. Now, let’s just imagine for a moment that we had the winning ticket….Where shall we go? Where’s that chauffeur?

Golf in Spain – the ‘hole’ truth
September 2nd, 2012 by vernon
Men who are into golf will be watching the Ryder Cup with the passion they reserve for this annual event. In 1997 Spain became the first country in continental Europe to stage the event.
Year after year men who love to play golf board aircraft to show off their green skills at golf courses all over Spain.
With the sheer quantity of golf facilities on offer in the country, you could be forgiven for thinking Spain invented the game.

The name’s the same in Spain
June 8th, 2012 by vernon
As you drive around Spain you will come across destinations that sound the same. Or they are spelt in a very similar fashion. They can be many miles apart. They can be very different locations. But each have something special to offer.
I do know of someone who, for example, thought they were being clever when they came out of Malaga airport and set their sat nav for their intended destination of Nigüelas, east of Malaga and south of Granada. They arrived, instead, in Nagüeles, west of Malaga and in Marbella.

Mountains of…Marbella?
February 8th, 2012 by Carol Byrne
Away from the yachts and glitz that encompasses the spirit that is upmarket Marbella, on the Costa del Sol, in the sunny south of Spain, you can do more than celebrity spotting if you venture a little way further north.
In the news this week is the little known mountainous region of Sierra de Las Nieves, not quite as breathtakingly immense as it’s similarly named cousin, the Sierra Nevada, but just as beautiful.
Binoculars, bikini and sturdy boots ready? Let’s go…

Cabopino Port – Understated but definitely not overrated!
November 9th, 2011 by Louise Brace
The port of Cabopino, to the east of Marbella, in Andalusia, is rather inconspicuous compared to the other nearby heavyweights of Puerto Banus and Benalmadena. Indeed it’s hard to imagine Sean Connery mooring his 12 million dollar baby or spotting King Fahd’s monster yacht sailing in. But the fact that Cabopino is still somewhat of a secret along the Costa del Sol is makes it so appealing…

A Costa del Sol Christmas: Sun, Sea and Snow!
September 18th, 2011 by Louise Brace
When I first moved to Marbella, on the Costa del Sol in Spain, I was resolutely against spending Christmas here. Christmas should be spent in freezing cold temperatures, with (hopefully) some snow, roast turkey and a Christmas TV sit-in. You can take me out of the UK, but…. So I was very apprehensive about spending my first Christmas here. There was no need. The superb mix of sun, great food and a snowy trip to the Sierra Nevada fulfilled all my Christmas needs and some!

La Mairena: A natural paradise perched on top of the world
July 27th, 2011 by Louise Brace
I am privileged to live in Spain, I have lived here for nine years, most of which have been spent in my wonderful apartment in La Mairena. Set in the hills above the coast, just east of Marbella, La Mairena is probably one of the most beautiful and natural places on the Costa del Sol and is fast becoming a place to head to for cyclists, ramblers, and off road karting.

The Marbella Feria comes to town
June 6th, 2011 by Louise Brace
Each year, every village, town and city throughout Spain pays homage to its local saint with a week or more long celebratory festival, known as a ‘feria’. The popular Andalusian resort of Marbella, situated on the Costa del Sol is no exception. The Marbella Feria de San Bernabe (Saint Bernard) takes place this year from 6-12th June and combines all the traditional pomp of a typical Spanish feria with a touch of hip snaking Latin groove.
