Alcudia beach on Mallorca has both been voted as one of the ten best beach destinations in Europe by Tripadvisor. Located in the northern part of Mallorca some 55km from Palma you will find the great destination of Alcudia; a place to relax, soak up the sun and enjoy some quality time with the family.
Alcudia is a without a doubt a great choice for families travelling with children. The long glorious beaches with warm shallow waters it is a real paradise and makes it an ideal destination for families. The Bay of Alcudia is over 8km long and goes from Playa de Muro onto the eastern resort of C’an Picafort. Alcudia offers everything for a lovely day at the beach; excellent facilities, many water sports and a great variety of restaurants. In other words, everything you could wish for a beach holiday.
The local authorities have strictly controlled the development of the area and set back the bigger hotels from the coast allowing instead low-rise apartment buildings to be located on the front line of the beach. Due to this it is extremely popular to rent a holiday home in Alcudia and have the beach right on your doorstep!
In addition to the wonderful beach the area also offers many activities and things to see.
For a great day out with the family one should head to the waterpark, Alcudia Hidropark. In its landscaped surroundings one will find giant water slides, 2 large swimming pools, a wave pool and many restaurants and catering outlets. This will defiantly be a hit with the children!
For a more cultural experience Alcudia town is the place to go. The original town of Alcudia lays 2km inland and it is here where one can find remains dating back to the Romans. The city walls in the old town date back to the 14th century, and the city gate Portal de Moll is one of the two gates remaining from this time. Portal de Moll is regarded as the symbol of Alcudia.
Alcudia Port is the area known for its nightlife and great variety of bars, restaurants, and shops. Take a walk along the walkway and soak up the atmosphere and beautiful surroundings!
The Alcudia markets on Tuesdays and Sundays are wonderful places to enjoy the small stalls selling local vegetables and fruits, flowers and local crafts.
Take a boat trip! This area of Mallorca is one of the closest points to the island of Menorca, so why not see some more of the Balearic Islands? In only 2 ½ hours over crystal-clear waters one will arrive to Ciutadella in Menorca. But make sure to book the ferry services in advance as it is very popular to go on day trips to the neighboring island.

I fully agree that Alcudia is one of the best places in Mallorca. And when visiting Alcudia I recommend to hop to Pollensa too, this is a small but very pretty village only 7 km from Alcudia. Staying in a holiday villa in Alcudia or Pollensa is a really nice way to enjoy the marvellous and cultural interesting north of Mallorca!
