quiet beach town of Ibiza, ideal for couples and families Tourist information about Santa Eularia in Spain. Travel to Santa Eularia and let Spain-Holiday.com guide and accommodate you |
Santa Eulalia, Ibizas third largest resort is only 21 kms from the airport and is a beloved destination for families and those seeking a quieter holiday. There is a beautiful, palm-lined promenade running the length of the broad and sandy beach, (which is perfectly safe for the kids), and some excellent self catering apartments in and around the town itself. You can rent these via www.spain-holiday.com
Santa Eulalia has a long-established reputation as the islands gastronomic and cultural centre. Art Galleries, the beautiful and exclusive Yacht Marina, some of the islands best restaurants, some very exclusive shopping, and a thriving all-year community, ensure that life in Santa Eulalia is led at a rather slower and more relaxing pace. There are some excellent bars here too, but the nightlife is nothing like Ibiza or San Antonio. It is a family resort: The local authorities and business community have worked together and invested lavishly to maintain its attractions to a more selective visitor and it is now much sought after by those desiring a quieter holiday and is a firm favourite for families.
what to visit:
Calle San Jaime separates the town and main square into the old quarter on the left and the new quarter with luxury seafront apartments and shops to the right. The Town Hall is in the old section at the top of the Plaza España, with its fountains & palm trees and it is from here that the little train (IBITREN) starts its scenic tour of the beautiful surrounding countryside, an economic alternative to hiring a car or bike.
The other side of San Jaime the Plaza continues, bright with flowering oleanders and hibiscus, colourful with the intriguing crafts of street vendors and exhibits of instant portrait painters, ending in a pleasing panorama of Promenade, fine white beach and the blue, blue Mediterranean Beyond.
Along the Promenade, you pass a colourful array of restaurants and cafés, from the cheap n cheerful to international exclusive and to the left at the end on the promontory the ferries ply to nearby beaches, Ibiza Town and for bracing day trips to the island of Formentera.
The western approach to Santa Eulalia is across a narrow bridge, with a lovely little Roman bridge to your right. The fascinating 16th century architecture of the Church of our Lady of Jesus, at the summit of the Puig de Missa (Hill of Mass), is romantically rivetting at night when it is exquisitely illuminated. From this hilltop you get an almost aerial appreciation of the municipality of Santa Eulalia which includes Santa Gertrudis, the greater part of Jesús, Es Caná, San Carlos and the beautiful bay of Cala Llonga.
