El Gastor is a typical white village in the province of Cadiz. Its central location makes it an ideal base to visit Andalucia: Jerez, Cadiz, Sevile, Granada, Malaga and Cordoba, all reachable by car. El Gastor is also known as ‘the balcony of the white villages’ and is perfectly placed to provide a base for those wishing to explore further afield to other villages on the famous ‘white village route’. It is only 20 minutes from Ronda and on the edge of the Grazalema National Park.
It is a quiet village ideal for rural and walking tourism. You can stay in your holiday home and enjoy the wonderful scenery of the location of this village and travel around when you feel like doing something more active.
It is 20 kms from Grazalema, 17 kms from Zahara, 15 kms from Algodonales, 33 kms from Ronda, similar white villages in the same area where you can practise hikingand make some nice walking routes.
El Gastor is situated near Lake Grazalema which is popular for fishing, kayaking and canoeing and swimming in the turquoise waters. The sportive people among you will have many things to do during teir holidays.
The unspoilt beaches of Costa de la Luz, are also not that far away. You can drive there by car, as it is only 60 km.
The village itself is as mentionned before, very charming, quiet and well taken care off. The streets and squares are all very WHITE and full of flowers.
This village is still very spanish, as not many tourist go there. There are some typical bars and restaurants where you can really feel as an Andalousian.
The local market is held every Thursday on the main square and you can find all kinds of traditional products there.
How to reach El Gastor:
we recommend travelling to El Gastor by car. The nearest aiport are the ones of Jerez (60km) and Sevilla (90km), but Malaga airport is also fine: it is located on 90 km.
