Cambrils is located in the Spanish region of Catalonia on the Costa Dorada. The town has developed as a modern, international tourist destination whilst managing to retain the charm of a traditional Spanish fishing village. Its three biggest attractions are without doubt its golden beaches, its fabulous seafood restaurants and its proximity to the Universal Studios Port Aventura theme park. Youll find plenty to see and do here but this is a fairly relaxed resort - if its frantic activity youre after, youll be better off in the next door resort of Salou!
Cambrils is easy to reach from 2 internation airports: Reus is only 12 km away and Barcelona is about 1 hour drive north west.
There are 9 km of fine sand beaches to enjoy nice long walks and fun with the children.
Cambrils is a seafaring village where life revolves around the harbour, in which the most prominent feature is an old defence tower.
The town has an area of detached houses sheltering below a castle. It is the old fortress of the Baron of Vilafortuny, which nowadays is a holiday centre. Before crossing the promenade, near the sea, there is a signal tower known as the Telégrafo de l’Esquirol, which in times gone by was used to establish communication with other parts of the coast by means of flags and lights. From the harbour, a path which follows the Garbí watercourse leads inland into town. It is worth stopping at the sanctuary of El Camí, with a crypt and an adjoining watchtower.
