Can Picafort is the ideal resort for families and couples wanting a relaxing getaway. The resort follows the coast for over 2km with the main tourist centre arranged in a series of narrow streets behind the beach. A pedestrian promenade backs the beach and offers a wide selection of restaurants and cafes. There is no nightlife to speak of - mainly shows organised by the hotels. Can Picafort is only 9km or so from Puerto Alcudia where there is a traditional and picturesque old town, water park and bustling port. There are good bus connections to Pollensa, Palma and Alcudia. Can Picafort is located in the Northeast of Majorca, 60km from Palma airport.
The main nucleus , where the "gran" beach begins and extends over 13 Km up to the beach of Muro and Alcudia. Here the urban nucleus follows the coastline, with a promenade alongside the beach, except at its western end where we find an extraordinary area of dunes.
Parallel to the beach as well as the promenade, and a few streets towards the centre, we encounter the Paseo Colón, the main avenue of Can Picafort with landscaped areas. Most of the shops and commercial activities are located here.
The old part of town, with the marina, the Townhall, the Tourist Office and the Post Office, and in its more elevated part, the gardens of "La Residencia" and the Church. This second area is rocky, without a beach.
There are multiple leisure activities.Horse-riding, go-carting (on the largest track of the island), windsurfing, tennis, mini-golf, cycling, hiking, birdwatching, fishing, sailing, water-skiing...
Santa Margarita Toward the interior, cultivated fields surround the village of Santa Margarita, the original nucleus of the population of the municipality.
