Holiday rentals Calella de Palafrugell ->

In Calella de Palafrugell you should have a walk along the coastal path, the Passeig del Canadell, Les Voltes, going into Sa Perola (tourist information office), visiting Cap Roig Botanical Garden, contemplating the sea from Casa Rosa or from El Golfet (view photo 2), enjoying a hot rum drink on one of the terraces or listening to habaneras (tradicional indian music) being sung in the local taverns.

Palafrugell is a town with very traditional commerce and well known for its markets.

The most notable markets are:

· Daily market: from Tuesdays to Saturdays, you can enjoy the daily fruit and vegetable market, the covered meat market and the covered fish market in the stretch of C. Pi i Margall next to Plaça Nova (near the church).

· Weekly market (Sunday): takes place in C. Pi i Margall, in the centre of the town all morning, and you can find food (fruit, vegetables, fish and meat), and all kinds of clothes, shoes, electronics, music, toys and so on.

· Evening market: This started in 2005 with the aim of promoting urban trade in the evenings, promoting traditional craftwork and reinforcing the pedestrian area in the centre of the town. It takes place in Carrer Pi i Margall (near Plaça Nova) from Thursdays to Saturdays, in July, August and half of September, from 6 to 11 pm. It is a craftwork and food market.

· Christmas Market: It started in 2003 and is open to craftspeople with products they have made themselves and traders with Christmas objects. It takes place in Plaça de Can Mario from around 8th December to Epiphany (January), in other words, it lasts for a month and and you can find all kinds of Christmas products (trees, plants, traditional food, decorations, etc.) and handicraft. You can also enjoy the day out by ice-skating in an ice rink that is set up in the square.

Notable markets:

· May: La Fireta dels Nens (The Children’s fair) in Camp d´en Prats and on a Saturday during the Spring Festival, a fair takes place in which the children in the town have the opportunity to work as trades people selling their toys, books and objects that they no longer use, cakes their mothers have made and so on.

· July: The Habaneras Market of Calella: on the first Saturday of July the traditional habaneras recital that starts the summer off takes place in Calella de Palafrugell. In the Passeig del Canadell you can find stalls with handicrafts in the afternoon.

· September: Crazy Market: On the first Saturday in September, in the Passeig de Llafranc and in the Plaça del Promontori, there is a Crazy Market that takes place all day, and gets its name from the fact that you can find anything there at any price. It is an art, handicraft, antique and bric-a-brac market, with a section devoted to children.

· December: Fireta solidària (the solidarity fair) takes place in Plaça Nova in about the two weeks before Christmas, organised by ACOPA. The Palafrugell schoolchildren sell craft work they have made themselves, all in aid of charity.

· All year round Craftwork market in Plaça Nova (the first Sunday of every month). It takes place in Plaça Nova and you can find all kinds of traditional products at it.
