Oliva is located in the Spanish region of Valencia on the Costa del Azahar at the northern edge of the Costa Blanca.
This has long been a popular resort with the Spanish who either own or rent the thousands of apartments and villas which have been built in the area to accommodate the summer season "run for the sun". But Oliva is becoming increasingly popular with foreign tourists, attracted by 10 kilometres of uncrowded coastline and the excellent sports facilities here.
The town lies at the heart of Spains orange growing region, 75 kilometres south of the provincial capital Valencia and 100 kilometres north of Alicante where the international El Altet airport has daily charter flights to and from the UK (two and a half hours flying time).
Oliva is located at the Mediterranean coast, 75 km. south of Valencia and 100 km. north of Alicante.
By road: The connections by road is the Mediterranean motorway A-7, exit (salida) 61. The main road N-332 connects Olica with Alicante and Valencia.
By rail: The train only gets to Gandia, from here there are regular bus lines to Oliva during the whole day. Through Valencia you can connect with the rest of cities in Spain such as the main cities in Europe.
By air: The nearest airport is located in Manises (Valencia), approximately 80 km. from Oliva. Another alternative is the El Altet airport in Alicante, 120 km. away. Both have daily connections with the most important cities in Spain and Europe.
Monuments and places of interest:
The church Santa María la Mayor (17th century) and San Roque (18th -19th century), the hermitage of Santos Antonio and Vicente (18th century), the abbey of San Roque (16th -18th century), wall ruins (15th -16th century), the chapel of la Virgen del Rebollet (18th century) in the church of las Caramelitas, town market, the home of Gregorio Mayans (18th cebtury), the cave la Cova (18th century), chimneys "dels Rajolars" (brick fabric), ruins from the castle of Santa Ana (12th -14th).
Beaches: Terranova, Pau-Pi, Aigua Blanca, Rabdells, Aigua Morta and Les Deveses. All of them adapted for handicapped.
Gastronomy: Coques a la Clafó (oven-baked maize tarts), la espardenyá (eel stew), pebreres farcides (rice stewed peppers), figatells (grilled meatballs), la pilota (stew), shrimps with beet; and the sweets: els rosegons, pacencies and mantecados (shortbread).
