La Marina is a small coastal village on the Costa Blanca in Spain

La Marina in Costa Blanca has a population of 3,000.

To the north is Santa Pola and Alicante, to the south, Guardamar and Torrevieja.

There is an unquestionably attractive coastal landscape for tourists, and the bathing season starts in spring and lasts until autumn. But one must not forget the environmental uniqueness of this area, where great expanses of beach combine with spectacular rolling dunes where conditions are ripe for the appearance of really unique types of flora and fauna.

The village has a range of shops, bars, banks etc. and has a regular bus service north and south along the coast.

The sandy beach at La Marina stretches some 17 kilometres from Santa Pola to Torrevieja.

There is a large urbanization (town) situated about a mile back into the hills with many shops, bars, restaurants, swimming pools etc.

La Marina consists of terraced houses such as Josefinas, Finas and Rositas, and detached houses, such as Lolas and Rosas. The newer villas of the big construction companies have so highly imaginative names as Fortuna, Nadine, Alicia or Oceania. All year round inhabited, the Urbanisation has developed its own charm and in the summer it pulsates life. Many Spaniards spend here their holidays (especially in August) and enjoy the family gathering with a picnic in the pine wood close to the beach or an eventful evening with one of the great Fiestas with “foam party” and live-Music.

The Urbanisation La Marina is one biggest in the Costa Blanca and lies only approx. 3,5 km away from the wonderful 17-km-long sandy beach. Besides this situation close to the coast La Marina offers a developed infrastructure as well as numerous entertainment possibilities and an active social life for the residents. Of course a lot is also offered to the holiday-maker, from the coastal road N-332 you can visit the hinterland and the close cities like Torrevieja, Alicante and Murcia.

During the summer the vacationers can find themselves under the Spanish sun at temperatures up to 40 degrees and the resident all year round can enjoy the mild climate. Winters temperatures are very rare less than 5 degrees and one can stay at Christmas at 15-20 degrees here easily. Precipitations fall in this area above all especially in November and April. In the spring the average temperatures is mild 20-25 degrees and everything blossoms and in autumn one can still sit in late October with a cardigan on the terrace.

In the evening one can enjoy the international kitchen, drink a little glass of sangria with Spanish live Music or enjoy the fantastic sundown. You should also visit a Spanish Bodega and try the different wines with Tapas typical from the area.

During the day apart from the usual beach activities a varied sport and leisure activities is offered. Thus you can rent bicycles, mini-golf play, a diving course, take a walk by the dunes or salt-work areas or go into the numerous small souvenir stores. In the closer surroundings one can book a riding excursion, hire a quad or a balloon flight over the nice scenery of this region.

The WHO (World Health Organization) has distinguished the climate in our region as a recommendable climate, especially, for those with breathing and heart problems.

The great salt-works, in Torrevieja and Santa Pola, provide the air with high salinity and raise the intake of iodine, which helps with the respiratory problems.

You can find everything here for a pleasant holidays. Have a nice time!!!

Weekly markets:

The Spanish weekly markets are liked very much in almost all towns close to La Marina. In the Urbanization it takes place every week on Thursdays and Sundays on the marketplace near the centre. The Mercado of Santa Pola and the biggest weekly market of the region on Sunday in Campo de Guardamar have numerous offers for the visitors of local fruit and vegetables, as well as shoes from the Spanish traditional workshops, craft work, clothes, leather article and of course a sufficient offer of catering trade for every taste.

Environment:

The spring and the autumn are suited particularly for excursions to the close and farther inland of La Marina. Away from the beaches in the green hinterland, in the mountains, with great views of the different best preserved sceneries. Climb the mountains, enjoy the fantastic views of the countryside and of the sea and be surprised by the Spanish friendliness. You will discover a lot of new things. La Marina has more than the beach and the sun to offer.

The villages of San Fulgencio, La Marina-Pueblo, Rojales, Almoradí, Crevillente, Dolores and Catral etc. invite you to visit them. Stroll by the Old Towns, along the mostly agrarian-economically used surfaces, past oranges and lemon trees, and call into the little stores with a wide offer of local products (e.g. jewellery, fans, wine, ham and olive oil).
