Costa Azahar - The "Orange-Blossom-Coast", in the north of Valencia, not only offers great beaches but as well beautiful towns as Peñiscola with its great medieval castle or Oropesa, which conserves the 16th century Tower of the King, erected as a defense against pirates. A true pearl is the enchanting Morella with its narrow lanes, enclosed by 14th century walls.
Monuments and places of interest: The Concatedral Cathedral, Fadri and the Observatory (Castellón), Museum of Contemporary Art (Vilafames), Papa Luna castle (Peníscola), Benicassim villa, the King tower and Oropesa castle, the castle and walls of Morella, the Orange Museum (Burriana), the Roman arch (Cabanes) and the Ceramics Museum (Alcora)
Beaches: Benicassim, Castello-Grao, Alcossebre, Peniscola, Oropesa, Torreblanca, Benicarló y Vinarós.
Gastronomy: Arros a banda, suquet de peix, Benicarló olleta barretja, barbecued fish, arros negre, Vinarós King Prawns and arrosejat.
Festivities: San Antonio (17th of January) in Benicassim, Vinarós carnivals, Magdalena (Castellón, March), San Juan (24th of June), Oropesa fiestas (25th of July), Santo Tomás (22nd of September) in Benicassim, 9th of October and Peníscola fiestas (7th to 16th of October).
Location: The Castellón coast is located on the east side of Spain. Castellón is the capital of the province and lies 65km north of Valencia, 414 km east of Madrid and 214 km south of Barcelona
By road: The Mediterranean motorway, A-7, connects with the European motorway network and the N-340 runs parallel to the entire Castellón coast. The national motorway A-3 is the main connection to the centre of the country, while the N-234 and N-232 national roads connect with the Ebro valley and the north of the country.
By rail: The Castellón coast has direct connections with the main Spanish and European cities. Castellón, Burriana, Villareal, Benicassim, Oropesa, Benicarló, Peníscola and Vinarós stations have daily services to and from Valencia, Barcelona and Madrid.
By air: The closest airport to the Castellón coast is the Manises international airport, in Valencia which is 65 km away. This airport connects to the main Spanish and European cities.
