THE APARTMENT
LIVING ROOM
The large living room has a kitchen and dining area at one end - a light and airy open plan living space with the original beamed ceiling and a French window opening on to a Juliet balcony. There is a large and very cosy sofa and and 2 comfortable rattan chairs. Also a large choice of CDs, DVDs and books. Portable fans provided.
BEDROOMS
Bedroom 1 - a spacious, quiet room overlooking the patio, with a large double bed and plenty of storage.
Bedroom 2 - a lovely room with a double bed, morning sun and a view to the mountains, a beamed ceiling and french windows overlooking the cobbled street.
There are ceiling fans in both double bedrooms.
Bedroom 3 - with a comfortable single bed - small room suitable for a child or occasional use.
A travel cot is provided.
There are duvets, plus extra bedding if need in winter. Cool cotton sheets for summer use.
BATHROOM
A stylish fully tiled modern shower room with a large shower, hand basin and mirror and wc. There is constant hot water, a shaver point, and a hairdryer is provided.
HALLWAY
The hallway is large and sunny, with original marble columns and arches, leading to an outside patio.
OUTSIDE SPACES
There is a patio on the ground floor, and a large roof terrace, which are both communal, but in reality there are very few people around at any one time. The other occupants (a pleasant cosmopolitan mix) come and go for short stays, so it is generally very peaceful.
On the apartment level is a patio area with a table and chairs for sunny (or shady) breakfasts. There is a sun lounger for your use - the roof terrace is a good place for private sunbathing, or a glass of wine in the evening watching the sun go down over
the most spectacular view in Arcos!
LINEN AND TOWELS
Linen and towels (including beach towels) are included, and extra bedlinen can be provided if you stay more than a week. Extra cleaning or changes of towels or bedlinen can be arranged at reasonable cost.
As I have lived in the apartment and return from time to time, there are a few of my personal possessions there which I have left for your enjoyment. Please feel free to play the CDs and DVDs and read the books and magazines. Several guests have commented that they have liked the feeling of coming to a homely emvironment - I hope you too will enjoy your stay.
COMMENTS BY GUESTS -
'Our holiday in Arcos was tremendous. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about it and we thought the apartment was superb - it was so nice to spend time in an authentic building.
The weather was nice and the restaurants so friendly, and we will have to come again to watch all the DVDs! Listening to your CDs made mornings over breakfast really relaxing, and we appreciated the very comfy bed. I think we will be visiting again.'

'Just wanted to say that we enjoyed staying in your apartment, and we were very well looked after. I hope we've left everything as you would wish. We did have lunch on the terrace, so could appreciate the truly magnificent views.'
'Just a line to let you know that we had a wonderful 3 weeks in Andalucia and really enjoyed our stay in your apartment, which has a lot of character and is tastefully decorated.'

ARCOS & THE COSTA DE LA LUZ
Within the town there are two hotels with large swimming pools open to the public in summer - La Molinera, by the lake, also has an attractive cafe with a terrace and a good restaurant.
The town has many restaurants and cafes. Within a few minutes level walk you can have a coffee or meal in a sunny patio, bar or restaurant, or shop at the local market. You will meet many of the friendly people who work there. It's 10 mins walk to the town centre, where you can shop, try the local specialities in one of the many bars and cafes, or do your supermarket shopping.
If you don't feel energetic the little local bus does a circuit of the town every half hour - worth it just for the local colour.
Good buses serve nearby towns, there is a Friday market, and throughout the year ferias and fiestas are a good excuse to stop work and party!
Semana Santa at Easter is a particularly impressive sight, and you can look down on the processions from the balconies of the apartment.
Arcos is an excellent centre for exploring the area. The Costa de la Luz has some of the most spectacular beaches in Spain, and they are rarely busy. There is a choice of destinations - the closest beaches are about 40 min drive on very good roads - for example, at Sanlucar de Barrameda you can sit in an outdoor restaurant eating fantastic seafood, then relax on the beach or take a boat trip. The city of Cadiz, and the entire coast south as far as Tarifa are beach heaven!
GOLF
It is only a short drive to an excellent golf course at Arcos Gardens, and there are many other leisure and sporting activities available in the region.
AIRPORTS
Airports within easy reach of Arcos - Jerez is under half an hour, Seville just over an hour, Gibraltar an hour and a half and Malaga two and a half hours. Approximate times, but all the roads are excellent.
PARKING
As the apartment is on the first floor it is not suitable for wheelchair users, or if you have difficulty with stairs.
There is pay parking on the roads leading up to the old town, but it's not expensive and usually easy to park. I would send you a permit so that you can drive close to the apartment to unload suitcases or shopping. If you rent a car I would recommend something fairly compact, as the streets are quite narrow, (built for donkeys, not cars!)
