Description: |
Casa La Montana
The ideal holiday for those who enjoy walking, hiking, writing, painting or just laying by the pool and doing absolutely nothing. The air is fresh and sweet and the countryside is lush and green. Whichever way the eye wanders, a carpet of natural, unspoilt land sets the backdrop of biscuit coloured mountains.
Set in the mountains of cultural Spain, the house has two twin bedrooms, a double bedroom and a single bedroom. The kitchen has fresh newly fitted cupboards and marble work surfaces from corner to corner complete with a fan assisted oven, hob and fridge freezer. Take your pick between the bbq at the front of the building and the sheltered one at the rear. There are swings for the children and loungers for the adults and a 12 x 8 swimming pool for the whole family. The house and swimming pool are contained within the grounds by perimeter fencing.
We love it and I am sure that you will too.
My wife Jann and I fulfilled a dream that we had when we met twenty two years ago. We purchased the house, (Casa la Montana), and set to work restoring it and creating the paradise in the hills that we dreamed of. The house is used by the family as a holiday home and is much loved by us all, the rest of the year we rent it out to help pay for its upkeep.
To us, the house is a breath of fresh air in the middle of freedom and real Spain. The real people and a real Spanish way of life visible for miles around. The air of an almost forgotten culture breaths through the trees that dapple the landscape. The little roads that lead to the house role around the hills and mountains linking quite little villages to one another. Late in the evening and early in the mornings, farmers can be seen trundling along the roads on ancient tractors or out in the fields tending their crops and harvesting the fruits from their trees. Take a camera on each trip. Every picture is like a painting.
Every day there is something different to see and do. If you like to shop and experience some local produce then visit some of the local markets. There are markets for almost every day of the week according to which village you happen to be visiting. Golf, pot holing, motor racing, sailing, coral diving, swimming, building sand castles, what ever, its here or within 40 minutes drive.
Valencia is Spains third largest city, which dates back from Roman times. Cathedrals, ancient churches and famous monuments line its historic streets while the modern world takes pride along side. Up to the minute shopping, futuristic museums and a wonderful contrast of 20th century architecture and preserved time. It was once said by the great composer Maestro Padillo: Valencia es la tierra de las flores, de la luz y del amoor., When translated means. Valencia is the land of flowers, light and love.
Those who enjoy sport will not be disappointed. Valencia is host to all kinds of clubs and activities from golfing to motor racing, coral diving to nautical sailing. When it all becomes too much or you are just not the sporting type than take your pick from one of the many beautiful golden beaches that roll along the Mediterranean cost line. Some of Spains most enchanting seaside villages are sculpted into the land along the way. Mountains dotted with houses and villas, perched upon jagged rocks like fruit on trees. Oliva, Moraira and Calpe are definitely worth a visit but make sure you have a day set aside. There is a lot to see and do.
Five minutes drive, north west of Valencia Airport is Bonaire, a grand shopping complex that offers a collection of the finest designer shops in the world. There are restaurants; supermarkets, leisure facilities and all situated in a stress free environment with easy access and ample parking.
Only five minutes away from the house is Bunol. This picturesque little village is the centre point for Spains national tomato fight, La Tamatina. Once a year everybody, grownups and children alike, flock to Bunol for the sole purpose of throwing tomatoes at one another. 20000 people and 100000lbs of tomatoes.
If you get time, visit the reservoir, which is virtually at the back of the house. Out of the gates and turn right, next right and right again. It will take you 15 minutes on foot to get there and 10 minutes to walk the bridge across the damn.
