Services
The complex is situated in a traditional Spanish village - Palomares. The complex is a gated community of 69 townhouses and apartments surrounding two swimming pool (1 adult and 1 childs). The communal grounds around the pools are exceptionally well kept with many trees, which can be used for shade, and bushes and flowers. May of the houses have well kept gardens and it all adds to the lovely setting. As it is gated, and a small complex, it is very safe for children.
The house has 2 bedrooms - one with a double bed and the other 2 singles - a downstairs shower room and an upstairs bathroom. There is a terrace at the front (with a palm tree) overlooking the pools and gardens and a terrace at the back. There is also a terrace off the main bedroom (with patio doors) that overlooks the pools. On the top floor there are two terraces one - at the back - with mountain views - and one at the front with sea views. With all these terraces you can always find either sun or shade.
The house has English satellite TV and Spanish TV - there is also a DVD player and recorder. The house has hot and cold air conditioning in the lounge and both bedrooms (payable by coin meter).
The development Hacienda del Marques is situated in a traditional local Spanish Village ‘Palomares’ and is a 10 minutes walk from the beach. Palomares has several English and Spanish restaurants and bars based around the central square. The Village also has a couple of small supermarkets, a hardware store that sells everything, tobacconist, two bank,chemist, gift store and a couple of hairdressers.
There are numerous towns, beaches and villages within minutes by car. The Moorish historical roots of the surroundings can be discovered in the charming villages such as Garrucha, Mojacar Pueblo, Nijar or Villaricos.
Villaricos is a fishing villages with two small harbours and several beaches ideal for searching out rock village hosts it’s own fiestas, the amazing fire cracking “ Toro del Fuego”, the sea-going “Virgin del Carmen” and the customary Easter Parades. There is a weekly market on Sunday.
Mojacar Pueblo – The ‘old’ town of Mojacar was built into the hillside 175 meters above sea level by the Moors, its narrow cobbled streets are home to local Spanish artists and sculptures. The Plaza Nueva ‘the square’ offers spectacular views of the surrounding towns and many shops, bars and restaurants. Mojacar has many fiesta's throughout the year and in the summer the square is a centre for all sorts of evening entertainment (all of which is free).
The largest of all the beaches is Mojacar Playa there are numerous places to stop along the beachfront as it goes on for several kilometres, Water Sports, Restaurants and Bars (both Spanish and English) are located at the far end of the Playa. Many of the bars are actually on the beach - you can have a meal or drink almost on the waters edge.
Vera – Another local town has a weekly market and bull fighting.
There is a very long and unspoilt beach at Vera Playa in the summer months there are water sports here and the beach is large and unspoilt, the restaurants and bars good quality.
Garrucha – Predominantly a traditional fishing town this port has many restaurants and bars along with a daily fish market. This is a very Spanish town and in high season it is full with Spanish holiday makers.
The varied array of restaurants locally include of course, speciality fish, Mexican, Italian, Chinese and traditional Spanish cuisine.
Activities and things to do.
Locally there are four golf courses taking from 5 – 20 minutes to reach by car.
Valle del Este opened in 2002 is a challenging 18-hole par 71 course that has state of the art clubhouse and hotel and Beach club on Vera Playa.
Desert Springs A Peter McEvoy designed 18-hole USGA specification par 72 course. Also opened in 2002 with clubhouse for gourmet dining or just relaxing with a coffee.
Marina Golf Opened in 2001 is 18 hole par 72 course benefits from an extensive driving range and pitch and putt course. The clubhouse is a great place to take a break for lunch or finish off a great game with a drink.
Cortijo Grande is a rustic course within the hills opened in 1976
There is also a driving range in Puerto Rey
Tennis
In the nearby resort of Puerto Rey, which is 5 minutes by car there are a number of tennis courts and tuition available. There are a number of restaurants and bars for you to recharge your batteries after a hard game.
Water sports
Vera and Mojacar beaches offer a full range of water sports (in season) both reachable in 5 – 15 minutes by car.
The local Water Park – Parque Aquatico Vera open from May to September is also only a few minutes by car.
For those a little more adventurous there are Scuba Diving centres in Garrucha and Mojacar.
Motor Sports
There is a Go Carting track in Garrucha and Quad bike hire in Mojacar but if you prefer to be driven there is also Trike bike tours in Mojacar.
Horse Riding
Available for all ages and abilities there are countryside rides from Mojacar beach.
Mini Hollywood – Set in the Tabernas Desert this 1960’s film set was used to stage many Westerns including ‘The Good the Bad and the Ugly’. With live shows daily, Cancan dancers and wild life park and zoological centre, this makes for a full day out.
