Description: |
The apartment is furnished to a high standard with all modern conveniences to comfortably suit four. As well as the front terrace there is a shady plant filled rear courtyard providing an extra dining area off the kitchen. The apartment block has parking outside and lifts and is in easy walking distance of a good range of shops, bars and restaurants and just 300 yards from the beach.
La Herradura (the horseshoe) lies on a beautiful curved bay on the Costa Tropical, a relatively unknown stretch of the coast of Andalucia, east of the Costa del Sol. It enjoys an enviable climate protected by the mountains behind above which towers the Sierra Nevada, the highest mountain range in Spain. This is noticeable in the wide variety of produce to be found locally all the year round including exotic fruits such as the Chirimoya (introduced from the Philippines), avocados, mangoes, bananas and guavas. La Herradura boasts some 320 days of sunshine a year.
La Herradura, whilst relatively small, does have a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants including a daily fresh meat, fish and vegetable market, supermarkets, baker, banks, chemists, hairdressers etc. Many of the bars and restaurants are situated on or close to the beach making this the ideal place to idle your days whilst relaxing in the sunshine. For the more active there is a wide range of water sports including water skiing, windsurfing, sailing and scuba diving (this as a good diving area). golf, tennis, hang gliding and horse riding are also available locally. The famous ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada are just over an hours drive away and are usually open until May. For keen walkers the Cero Gordo national park lies at one end of the bay and there are many more walks in the mountains behind and in the Alpujarras (half and hours drive away). There are golf courses within half an hours drive.
For those looking for a more lively nightlife the towns of Almunecar (5 minutes drive) and Nerja (15 minutes drive) are close by offering a wide range of bars, restaurants, flamenco dancing, piano bars and discos with cuisine ranging from traditional Spanish, Chinese, Indian and Moroccan to name just a few.
There is a bird park in Almunecar and a water park in the neighbouring resort of La Vililla. The famous Nerja caves are ten minutes drive away and well worth a visit, as are the many traditional white villages in the area.
We can also arrange for charter of our 40ft sailing yacht either for a few days before or after your booking, a single day whilst you are in the apartment or for a completely separate holiday.
