Steps up from the kitchen lead to a lounge with two comfortable double sofas, coffee table, TV (both UK Satellite and Spanish Digital TV) and DVD player.
Off the lounge is the second spacious bedroom with two single beds, bedside table with table lamp, large fitted wardrobe with interior chest of drawers, small glass/iron dressing table and large mirror.
Final steps lead up to the large sunny terrace with table and four chairs, parasol and two sun loungers. Lighting and electric sockets. Superb mountain/town and sea views.
The house is close to the impressive remains of the old arab castle (Castillo San Miguel) and is just around the corner from the Cave of the Seven Palaces (Archaeological museum, Cueva Siete Palacios) and the Majuelo botanical gardens are a short walk.
A couple of minutes walk, and you are down into the Plaza De Constitucion (Town Hall Square) with lovely cafe bars, pharmacy, wine and ice cream shop. Follow the cobbled streets to the eclectic shops and boutiques that lay around.
Playa Puerta Del Mar beach is a short 5-10 min walk and the San Cristóbal beach is 10-15 minutes walk. On the beach fronts lie many bars and nightclubs open until the early hours of the morning!!!
Other attractions include:
Aquarium (largest in Europe): 5-10 mins walk
The Lori parrot bird Park: 10 mins walk
The Aqua Park (open summer season) with numerous water rides, pools, bars, restaurants: 20-25 min walk.
The Municipal market offers fresh fruit, meat, fish, flowers and plants: 5 min walk.
The Bus Station is only a 10 min walk and offers an excellent and cheap service to surrounding areas including Málaga, Almeria and Granada (all between an hour and an hour and a half journey), and the local bustling towns such as Motril, and resorts like Salobreña and Nerja. There is a taxi rank outside the bus station.
Two minutes walk from the property you will find a corner shop and a bakery. Highly recommended, and a stones throw away from the house, is the highly reputed La Corrala bar, and Los Pajaritos bar famed for its seafood tapas.
There are numerous local festivals and fiestas at all times of the year which often last for several days and create a wonderful carnival atmosphere.
Inland from Almuñécar lies the Alpujarra national park approx 1hrs drive and the stunning Alhambra Palace in Granada. The Sierra Nevada offers excellent skiing facilities and is little more than an hour's drive. Not to be missed is the Peña Escrita Wildlife Park less than an hours drive, where you will see fabulous wild animals set in a natural habitat.
Although it is not possible to drive to the house due to the narrow cobbled streets, this is outweighed by the fact the house is in a location with superb proximity to beaches, shops, restaurants, attractions in the unspoilt Old Town, which remains truly Spanish in character.
Access to the house is up a cobbled hill so we would not recommend the house as being suitable for the infirm or disabled. There is no immediate parking outside the house, however there is parking within walking distance. There are several car hire firms in the town.
