A charming townhouse built on two levels in the centre of Gualchos, restored throughout in 2010, whilst keeping many original features the bathrooms and kitchen have been brought up to date.
On entering the property you will find a traditional style, spacious dining room with seating for 6 and entrances to the first two bedrooms. The bedrooms are; one twin room and one with full size bunk beds, both having ample wardrobes and drawer space. A hallway leads you through to a double bedroom, again with ample wardrobes and drawers and also satellite TV / DVD, the first of 2 bathrooms containg a ½ size bath with shower, toilet, bidet, wash basin and also the entrance to the fully equipped kitchen.
A side door in the dining room leads you up to the first floor where you wil find a large and comfortable living room with seating for 6, satellite TV, DVD, CD and DVD / CD / reading library. A small corridor leads you to the second bathroom which has a multifunction shower, toilet and wash basin and also a further doorway leading to a small terrace with washing machine and washing lines.
Opposite the corridor is the entrance to a large 25m2 tiled sun terrace benefiting from all day sunshine with table and seating for 6. A set of steps leads you down to the annexe room which has a double bed, ample wardrobes and drawers.
The small, but friendly village of Gualchos lies at 1200ft above sea level in a natural enclave, shadowed by the Sierra Nevada mountain ranges and overlooks the Mediterranean. Amenities in the village are basic, but sufficient, in the village centre you will find a small supermarket (where you can buy almost anything), a weekly fish market, a bar “La Plaza” and a bakery. At the Plaza bar you can order an evening meal which is good, inexpensive and plentiful. There is also an ice-cream parlour and a fountain where you can drink natural spring water. The village also has a doctors surgery and a small pharmacy.
During the summer months you can enjoy easy relaxed company and wonderful views of the Mediterranean coastline at "Barbacoa Miguel" where food is cooked over an open fire.
There are two roads leading out of the village - both are well made although windy. The first road is to Castell de Ferro and the N340 coastal road and takes 10 minutes. The second road is around the mountain to Motril and takes 20 minutes with some breathtaking views en-route. There is a daily bus service from the village to Motril but hiring a car is recomended!
The town of Motril has plenty of shops, banks, restaurants, markets and large supermarkets for all your shopping needs.
The Sierra Nevada mountain range is Spain´s highest, a magnificent backdrop to this partly undiscovered area of Spain. The area enjoys a microclimate, subtropical in character, a warm and gentle 18 degrees in winter and an average of 25 degrees in summer. The beaches are unspoilt. In the winter months you can ski in the Sierras in the morning and sunbathe on the terrace in the afternoon.
This is the old Andalucian part of Spain, complete with fiestas, whitewashed villages, Moorish castles and some of the best and least expensive food and wine to be found in Spain. The restaurants and tapas bars are very good and the fish is excellent. There is history to be found everywhere, from the Alhambra Palace in Granada to the Alpujarras region and the coastal towns of Almeria, Almuñecar, Salobreña and Nerja.
