This is the artists area in Barcelona and very fashionable, with many interesting boutiques, bars and international cuisine at your doorstep, alongside an array of conveniences. Its a short walk up to Parc Güell, or down Passeig de Gracia, which is famous for its Gaudí architecture, among designer shops. Public transport to the old centre or the beach takes 15 minutes.
