Holiday apartment for rent in Altea

THE LOCATION

The Villa Gadea Community is set by the sea within reasonable walking distance of Altea Town. The Community is made up of a number of attractively designed buildings clustered around swimming pools within landscaped gardens of palm trees and fragrant Mediterranean planting.

The Bay of Altea is flanked at either end with rocky headlands and inland the Sierra Bernia mountains provide a stunning backdrop. Altea is renowned for its delightful old town. Climb up the steps (take a taxi if you’re feeling lazy) and enter through the archway which leads, via cobbled streets, up to the wide plaza on the hilltop with fantastic views of the surrounding bay.

Restaurants with every type of cuisine line your way, together with interesting shops selling paintings and pottery and a market selling the wares of local artisans is set up in the pedestrianised plaza during the summer. Sit out by the quite magnificent old Church of the Virgen de Consuelo with it is distinctive blue cupolas, enjoy a glass of wine and watch the world go by…..

Remember to explore the rest of cosmopolitan Altea Town. The sea front offers dozens of restaurants and bars and you can walk along the promenade as far as Albir on the other side of the bay. The shopping in Altea is also good and you will soon notice the many excellent boutiques and antique shops tucked along the way.

VILLA GADEA

Considered by many to be one of the most prestigious developments on this coast, the cream coloured buildings are attractive and interesting to look at. Well tended gardens have little pathways that meander between the buildings and pools, down to the gated entrance to the pebble and shingle beach where, in the summer, you will find a handful of alfresco bars and restaurants, staying open well into the early hours.

The Gadea Beach 5* Hotel, at the entrance to the Villa Gadea Residencial, is a lovely place to relax with a drink. From there, taxis are readily available and will take you to and from town if you don’t feel like driving or walking.

OUR APARTMENT

Our second floor apartment is used primarily as a holiday home for our family and has been appointed accordingly. The décor is relaxing and neutral with white marble floors and pale walls. The terrace is terracotta tiling with marble inlay. Splashes of colour are provided by artwork, silk cushions and a few decorative pieces. Comfortable, stylish and private - we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

There are only two apartments located on each floor of each escalera, with a lift to your door. Our building is set into the hillside at the perimeter of the complex, away from the hustle and bustle of the Hotel Gadea Beach.

LOUNGE / DINING

Two large three-seater comfy sofas face each other and a circular table with 6 high backed leather chairs allow you to invite friends over to visit and dine in comfort. Occasional tables, lamp, TV, DVD and shelving with books and games complete the room. The lighting can be dimmed at night and you have access through full width double doors to the balcony-terrace beyond.

KITCHEN AND UTILITY ROOM

A modern white and stainless steel kitchen, marble worktops and splash-back, with everything you should need for holiday catering. Fitted with large fridge freezer, dishwasher, cooker, grill and hob, coffee maker, kettle, toaster and microwave.

The utility room has a separate washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a sink, iron and vacuum plus cleaning equipment. A welcome cool breeze blows down from the mountains into this room, making it a great spot for drying off your swimming things.

BEDROOMS

There are two bedrooms, sleeping a total of four. Each room has a range of fitted cupboards and drawers.

The master bedroom (with en-suite bathroom) has a king sized bed with a quality mattress and is accessorised with colour coordinating duvets and pillows. Lighting can be activated from the bed, as can the automatic shutters and the remote controlled cold/hot air-conditioning. Sliding double doors lead to the balcony-terrace which is planted with jasmine and flowering bushes.

The second bedroom has comfortable twin beds, Moroccan style trellised shutters at the windows and often has a gentle breeze from the mountains.

BATHROOM AND SHOWER ROOM

The ensuite bathroom and master bedroom can be closed off from the apartment. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi bath, with thermostatic shower over the bath. There are double basins surrounded by a marble worktop, with marble floors and soft neutral marble mosaic wall tiles. A WC and Bidet complete the suite.

The Shower room has a walk in shower with thermostatic shower, a single basin and a WC. This room is also fitted in marble.

TERRACE, JACUZZI AND VIEWS

A balcony-terrace fronts the whole of the apartment and has views of the sea, the mountains of the Sierra Bernia and old town Altea with its magnificent old domed church. During the day enjoy sparkling sea views with boats of all kinds plying their way back and forth and, in the distance, the rocky, natural headland of the Bay of Altea. At night enjoy the glittering lights of the town with the dome of the church in old town Altea silhouetted against the skyline. Standing here you will have a first rate view of the fireworks that accompany the many summer-time fiestas in the town

Full-width double glazed doors lead from the lounge to the balcony-terrace. Here you have a dining table with 4 deep - backed comfortable chairs for alfresco dining. A further set of double width doors lead from the double bedroom to the second part of the terrace, covered with a wooden pergola, where you can relax in comfort on one of the two wooden steamer reclining chairs, a drink by your side.

Or relax in the Jacuzzi on the terrace – tucked behind Moroccan style metal panelling and watch the sun go down over the sea or mountains.

SWIMMING POOL (with separate toddler section)

The swimming pool for our building is particularly private and secluded, with refreshing glimpses of the blue sea beyond and the mountains in the distance. Surrounded by a grassy garden with flowering plants, there is room to set up your sun-lounger and laze in the sun.

Our apartment is particularly well placed for popping down to the pool. The lift from our front door takes you to the entrance to the building – where you will find the few steps down to the pool.

Community Rules - Villa Gadea is a residential community and all owners and guests must respect the small set of rules that have been agreed by the Community in order that Villa Gadea remains peaceful and safe. A copy of these straightforward rules will be sent to you prior to departure and a further copy can be found in the apartment, along with other useful information about Villa Gadea and the surrounding area.

Notes
Booking: A 25% deposit is taken at the time of booking and full payment is due 8 weeks before departure. Neither of these payments is refundable and we strongly suggest you take out private insurance in case you need to cancel. A refundable security / damages deposit of £250 is taken at payment of full amount and this will be returned to you, less any necessary deductions which we would discuss with you, within 10 days of your return.

Supplements: You will be met by our English caretakers and shown around the apartment. Formal Check-in (required by Villa Gadea) and meet & greet is £30 (+ £15 late arrival supplement after 8pm): There is NO additional cost for the final clean (unless the apartment is left in a very poor condition) or the use of air-conditioning or central heating. Two Baby Cots are available free of charge and other baby equipment can be provided on request (at local charge).

Private Airport Transfers available at a competitive rate.

Arrival time is 15.00 and check-out time is by 10.00 but can be varied by prior agreement, if the apartment is available.

Change over day is flexible but our pricing structure is based on Saturday to Saturday.
