Alcaidesa is situated at the end of the Costa del Sol and the start of the Costa de la Luz. It is a great place to explore from with road access to Marbella, Malaga, Jerez, Cadiz and Seville and all along the Costas being easy by the motorway or new Toll Road. Gibraltar is the nearest international airport at just 20 minutes away and Malaga is 60 minutes. A Car is recommended. The beach has water sports, restaurants and bars. The town square has a restaurant, bar, shop and pharmacy. Also near to the beach is a restaurant called the Hacienda. There is an 18 hole links golf course(the only links golf course in Spain) with a clubhouse that is well-equipped and comfortable with bar and restaurant together with a pleasant terrace area with views of the Mediterranean. Gibraltar is famous worldwide for its dramatic rock. It overlooks the Straits of Gibraltar and is linked to Spain by a narrow isthmus. Gibraltar is imposing but small. It measures less than six square kilometres in total. It is inhabited by around 30,000 people made up of Gibraltarians, British, Moroccans, Indians and Spanish. There is also a colony of the famous apes, the only ones in Europe to run free in a semi-wild state. Gibraltar is outside the Customs Union so travellers from EU member states can still enjoy duty free shopping. When staying in Alcaidesa, Gibraltar is the best place to fly to being only 8 miles away.
Algeciras is located round the far side of the bay to Gibraltar. There is a strong Arab influence here with many of the signs in Arabic as well as Spanish. There are several traditional tea shops which specialise in the traditional Moroccan mint tea. Algeciras is a very genuine place with a real port atmosphere. There are lots of reasonably priced restaurants to try – several with terrific views of the nearby Rock of Gibraltar. There is also a large water park. Algeciras is the place to catch the train to Ronda which is definitely one of the best journeys in Andalucia.
Tarifa is a true surfers paradise. It has 10 kilometres of white sandy beaches and some of the best windsurfing conditions in Europe. tarifa is the southern-most tip of Europe with views across the water of the Rif Mountains in Africa. In the town itself there are narrow cobbled streets, plenty of tapas bars and whitewashed houses.
Sotogrande is one of the most luxurious sports and residential developments in Europe. It has all the amenities you could wish for to go with the Polo Club. As well as golf, beach, marina and incredible bars, restaurants and leisure centres, its situation and all year round weather, makes it a unique place to visit. Ronda is one of Andalucias loveliest towns, steeped in history. It is famous through Spain for the plunging river gorge. This gorge is known as "El Tajo" - The Cliff and is spanned by a stone bridge. You can look down into the gorge, to see the waters of the River Guadalevín. Ronda is also famous for its bullring, the oldest, and one of the most beautiful in Spain; the arena itself is also the countrys largest. When there are no fights, the bullring is open to visitors, and has a fascinating museum with many mementos of Spains most famous bullfighters.
Puerto Banus is located just west of Marbella. This is the place to see all the luxury yachts while having a drink at one of the many open air restaurants and bars. It has a mountain backdrop and ocean views. At night Puerto Banus has a choice of alfresco bars, piano clubs and discos while during the day you can visit the world renowned fashions houses and interesting shops and boutiques. If you really want to have a bird´s eye view of the port´s magnificent position, then regular boat trips are the ideal solution and available on a regular basis from the central promenade. The beach adjacent to Puerto Banus holds a European blue flag.Every Saturday morning at Puerto Banus by the bullring is a very popular street market.
Marbella has in its municipality 27 Km. of coastline stretching from Guadalalmina to Cabopino, which is divided into 24 beaches. There you can enjoy traditional fish and seafood favourites. There are also two large parks in Marbella. It also has an old town with a small village atmosphere as well and one of the prettiest places is the Orange Square or "La Plaza de los Naranjos" which is located just off the main street. It also has stately buildings, small shops, art galleries, bars and bistros.
These are just a few of the places that are easily reached from Alcaidesa.
