Residencial Fontana.
The newly built apartment sleeping up to 6 people is situated within a private gated community boasting water features, fountains and a communal swimming pool and communcal roof solarium. It has its own designated secure parking space in the underground car park which is accessible by lift and stairs.
The kitchen is fully fitted with oven, hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, toaster, microwave, kettle and a full compliment of cutlery, cooking utensils and glass ware. An iron and ironing board is provided as well as an 1900 watt hairdryer. The bathroom is a 4 piece white suite with shower and bidet. The dining area has an extended table that can seat up to 6 persons.
The lounge area has TV with British Sky satellite inlcudign kids cartoon channel, DVD, CD player and a settee that also acts as a fold out double bed. The patio doors to leads to a large balcony. One bedroom has a double bed with fitted wardrobes and two four drawer chest of drawers, the other bedroom with 2 single beds again with fitted wardrobes with one five drawer chest of drawers adn a smaler 4 drawers. Additionally there is a sofa in the living room which converts into a double bed. Towels are provided.
A UK made travel cot, a UK high chair, potty and baby steriliser are also available on request. The commual swimming pool can be viewed from the balcony.
Basic necessities such as milk, bread can be provided on request on a non profit basis.
Alongside Residencial Fontana is a municipal sports park with a children¡¦s play area. The complex is also adjacent to a large area of orange groves with a view over to the mountains.
Flexible arrival and departure days are available to allow advantage of cheaper midweek flights rather than being limited to weekends, and singleton days can be booked.
A car would be desirable but airport pickup/returns and good value taxi runs can be arranged by request. If you intend to hire a car, advice on good value car rental companies can be provided.
The Region.
The region in which Algorfa sits is semi-rural, with acres of orange and lemon groves lining the roads in and out of the village. The towns of Murcia, Orihuela and Alicante are just a short drive away and well worth a visit.
Murcia has a lovely cathedral, excellent shopping and an old casino. Guardamar is a lovely town 15 minutes away, with museums, pine groves, parks and miles of golden sands. On Saturday morning, there is the famous mile long market along Flamenco beach. Alicante is a busy city with excellent shopping, a varied nightlife with the restaurants centralised and a pleasant port in which to sit and relax at the cafes.
There is also the bustling resort of Torrevieja 15 minutes drive away with its beautiful coastline, shops, bars and restaurants. If the children like theme parks then try Terre Mitica (45 minutes drive) or Torrevieja water park for an action packed day out.
However, the region is starting to be known as The Golf Cost with 15 championship golf courses located between Alicante and La Manga, and a further 10 in the planning stages, so visitors are guaranteed an excellent round of golf. An average of 320 days of sunshine a year means you are unlikely to miss many tee times due to rain.
Algorfa.
Residencial Fontana is located on the edge of the town of Algorfa, a typical Spanish village with a central square, bars, cafes, restaurants, banks, pharmacy, small supermarket and bakeries. There are shops selling local produce i.e. butchers, bakers, the locals are friendly and only too happy for you to try before you buy. There is now an British food shop.
There are several local bars and restaurants serving both Spanish and English food. Thre is an Bristih bar and a stylish English cafe bar. The bars are very child friendly and there is a pool table and other bar games in one local bar.
The picturesque square with its gardens and fountains is an ideal place for relaxing in one of the cafe bars. On Sunday mornings there is a typical Spanish market on the outskirts of the village. For those who are more energetic, there is a modern gym at Los Monterinos, a ten minute drive away, which also has a varied range of restaurants.
Ideally situated for golfing and beach holidays, as the apartment is 5 minutes away from La Finca golf course and 15 minutes from miles of blue flag sandy golden beaches. Alicante and Murcia airports are only 30 minutes away. The area enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate; the average temperature is 16 degrees in February and 32 degrees in July.
Facilities within 20 Minutes Drive.
Close to the apartment are golden beaches of Guardamar, sailing, wind surfing, fishing, walking, cycling, horse riding, golf, tennis, a sports centre, theatre/cinema, shopping areas, restaurants etc. La Finca Golf course is 5 minutes away, and the courses at Villamartin and Las Ramblas within 20 minutes.
Twenty minutes from Algorfa brings you to Haberneras on the outskirts of Torrevieja, which is a major shopping centre with major branded shops. Additionally there are numerous American, Chinese Indian and Spanish restaurants including the fast food chains (McDonalds, Burger King), an Irish pub and also a casino. There are some good value Spanish restaurants in the area which can be recommended, for just tapas or full Spanish cuisine. The price is significantly cheaper than in the UK.
Facilities within 45 Minutes Drive.
Within easy reach of the apartment there is water skiing, boat hire, climbing, mountain biking, historic sites, a museum, a theme park.
The cities of Alicante, Torrevieja and Murcia provide much of interest and shopping too.
