Description: |
This seafront apartment has 2 double bedrooms and two bathrooms (master bathroom ensuite), fully fitted kitchen and large reception/dining room. The reception and main bedroom lead onto the full width balcony facing south across the bay. There is comfortable outside seating and dining facilities for at least 6 persons where the only sounds will be the lapping of waves on the beach below.
The apartment is fully air conditioned, decorated to a very high standard and is situated in a small and exclusive apartment block that has only recently been completed. There are tennis courts right next door and the apartments share a very nice swimming pool with direct access to the best beach in the area right next to the Marina del Este with its yachts, restaurants and café life.
The beach itself has an excellent restaurant, is very child friendly and has all the usual watersports available. It also offers direct access from the beach to one of the best scuba diving areas in Southern Spain.
The apartment is situated between Almunecar and La Herradura with easy access to both towns by car. La Herradura has many good local restaurants both on and off its fine long beach and is also a well known scuba diving centre. Almunecar has been a thriving town since Roman times and has all the feel of an old and unspoiled Spanish town. The central square is the hub of the old town which is closed to traffic and is surrounded by small shops, tapas bars and restaurants stretching right down to the beach, Some of these are open right through until early morning throughout the summer (so we are told!). The late night environment is very safe for both children and teenagers as fortunately Almunecar is not a resort favoured by the youth of northern Europe. A popular and energy-absorbing Water Park lies on the far edge of town.
Behind the town the Sierra Nevada rises up to majestic heights and makes a beautiful sight when covered with snow during the winter months. At the very same time Almunecar continues to enjoy its wonderfully pleasant climate which even in midwinter usually blesses visitors with clear blue skies that can be enjoyed in T-shirts during the day plus light sweaters for morning and evening. Up behind the town lies Las Alpujarras, the sub alpine region of the Sierra Nevada, dotted with quaint villages surrounded by wild flower meadows where the famous hams of the region are still dried in the fresh air. Higher still, but still less than an hour’s drive away, lies the famous city of Granada and a little further on is the skiing resort of the Sierra Nevada with its 17 chair and ski lifts offering the best skiing in Spain between December and April, depending of course on local weather conditions. You really can ski during the day and be back in time for dinner on the beach in the evening.
The apartment is one hours’ drive away from Malaga and Granada airports and a substantial discount can be arranged for car hire. The apartment is managed for us by Allan and Sue who will meet you on arrival. Allan is a Divemaster and Sue can get in some shopping for you before your arrival, help you find your way around and solve any problems whilst you are there.
