Situated in Vilanova I la Geltrú just south of the popular beach resort of Sitges and only 30 minutes from Barcelona Airport, this remarkable villa is a rare example of “Neo Mudejar” architecture, an exotic blend of Moorish, Hispanic and Renaissance styles famous for its elaborate colour and details.

Built over 120 years ago, the house and the grounds have been restored to their original style, but with all modern comforts now included to make it a truly perfect retreat.

The gardens are as stunning as the house itself, as the villa sits in a walled enclosure of 2 hectares of land with a wide variety of plants and trees, a large swimming pool (12x7M), a tennis court, an ornate fish pond, a children's play park and a large BBQ area. There is parking for 20 vehicles.

The main villa is set on 3 floors,(there is a lift as well as the ornate staircase) with 9 distinctive bedrooms which all have en suite bathrooms. There is a music room, a bar/salon, a library, games room, dining room and a large fully equipped kitchen.

The bedrooms are set over 3 floors: there are 4 double bedrooms on the second floor, including the Master Bedroom or Sultan suite; on the second floor there are a further 4 double bedrooms (two of which have sitting rooms or we can put in single beds in each so that the house sleeps 21). Surrounding the first floor is a communal terrace to which all 4 bedrooms on this level have access.

On the ground floor there is the breathtaking entrance hall, the spacious lounge (with satellite TV, WIFI and DVD) and a large games room with a pool table, and music system. There is an impressive large dining room, the kitchen which has all possible amenities, a covered porch and seating areas for dining al fresco. The double bedroom on this floor is ideal for older members of the group or those with walking difficulties.

In total there are 9 bedrooms sleeping 18 people in 9 double beds. We can accommodate up to 21 by changing the sleeping arrangements and putting in 3 single beds without restricting space or comfort. In addition, we have 2 cots and infants are welcome at no additional charge.

Heaven on earth

We were lucky enough to stay at Can Xicarro with a few friends and we didn't want (or need) to leave! The house and grounds provide ample space and variety of entertainment that our group only ever needed venture out to replenish food supplies (next time we will definitely be taking advantage of the catering option!). Xicarro is luxurious without being stuffy and overly formal. The house is comfortable and has everything you could need. On the rare occasion the children came out of the pool or off the tennis court they were easily entertained playing pool or watching TV - the house is perfect for hide and seek too! The grounds have many areas to relax in the shade or make the most of the perfect sunshine. The barbecue area was ideal for long lunches, and many a happy hour was spent pretending to know the rules of pentanque and playing tennis. The kitchen is well equipped and the bedrooms very comfortable, complete with air-conditioning. We will definitely be back!

David's 60th Bithday August 2011

This is a BIG thank you from David and I for all your help and support you gave us when we held his birthday in August. Everyone had a magical time and loved the Villa and really appreciated your assistance-above and beyond the call of duty from grocery shopping to when suitcases went missing to sending ham stands back to Aus!! You were very obliging and nothing seemed too much trouble-you were a pleasure to do business with!
