‘La Casa de la Colina’, the house on the hill, is a recently renovated farmhouse set in a tranquil and wonderfully scenic location in the heart of Andalucia, Southern Spain. Close to the traditional Spanish town of Iznajar with its beautiful lake, it enjoys stunning views of the surrounding olive studded countryside and is a perfect holiday retreat for either a short break, or long vacation.

The house sleeps 2-6 persons and is easily accessed from the UK. Malaga airport is around an hours drive from where there is a large range of low cost flight options. Granada airport is even closer at around 50 minutes, albeit with a lesser choice of direct flights.

The accommodation is arranged around a front terrace. On the ground floor, the entrance hallway leads on the one side to the living room, and on the other the kitchen and main bathroom. The kitchen is equipped with electric oven, gas hob, juicer and fridge; the bathroom with bath, and separate double shower area. Internally the house has been finished to a high standard by its architect owner’s, the neutral décor complementing well the rich timber and fabric furnishings reflecting the Moorish influence of the area.

Stairs from the hallway lead to a large upper landing area containing books and magazines. The remainder of the first floor consists of a large master bedroom with stripped olive wood beams and king size bed, and two further bedrooms equipped with a double bed and twin beds respectively.

To the side of the house there is an 8m long pool with adjoining terrace. The pool has an ‘infinity edge’ that offers stunning views of the countryside beyond, whilst the adjoining terrace is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the Mediterranean sunshine.
The front terrace is also a superb place for alfresco dining additionally has access to a utility room with drying space and separate WC.

The beautiful surrounding countryside offers a perfect base in which to go walking, horse riding, bird watching or cycling. The historic Andalucian cities of Seville, Cordoba, Ronda and Granada with its Alhambra Palace are all within easy reach. On the coast, Malaga offers an equally impressive Cathedral, Castle, and Picasso museum all within its restored historical centre, and of course the many beaches of the Costa Del Sol. The nearest golf course is 30 minutes away in Antequerra.

More about Paul Mathews

My wife and I are both Architects based in London. We bought our property near Iznajar as a 'bolt hole' to provide some peace and quiet from the busy life in London. And of course the weather!

We've been visiting Andalucia for over 10 years, and started renting our property out in 2006. We very much look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful part of Spain.
