Torrevieja is an ancient sea port and there are many historic sites. Every evening in the summer months a craft market is held close to the port. There is also a big fairground, a cinema and bowling complex and go-karts in the Southern part of Torrevieja. There are many restaurants, Tapas bars and street cafes in the surrounding areas, where you can choose from the native Spanish to Italian , French , German, Chinese, Indian, Korean, Scandinavian, or Mexican cuisine. The water park in Torrevieja Aquopois offers fun activities for the whole family to enjoy including River Rapids, Kamikaze slides. There is a large shopping mall within easy reach of the house. There are many local fiestas, the feast of the three wise men on 5th January, carnivals in February, The holy week processions in April, the May Fair, the feast of San Juan in June, the Feast of the Virgen Del Carmen and the election of Torrevieja’s Queen of Salt in July, and one of the biggest festival, Habaneras, an international music contest which takes place in August.
