Description: |
Casa Canada Real is a 17th Century Inn on the Camino Real. The Camino is the ancient route from Jerez to Ronda for shepherds and their flocks although nowadays only parts of the Camino remain, this part is still very much in use for livestock and is a public footpath for ramblers and naturalists as well. This can still be walked from here into Ronda and is also a route to Old Ronda and the Roman Archeological site of Acinipo.
Amidst the mountain oak trees (a protected species) and in a small canyon with river running through, it is situated 12 Kms from Ronda off the Seville Road, although in Malaga Province it is ideally located close to the Cadiz border and is surrounded by National Parkland, including the famous Grazelema, which accords this property spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.
There is a garden flat attached to this large house just 15 mins drive from Ronda, comprising 4 private terraces, ranging from the private entrance off the Camino with magnificent panaroma across the canyon towards the peaks of Grazelema, down a few steps to the entrance of the flat. Both terraces have shade and sun and can be used for relaxing, al fresco dining, or watching the eagles and vultures soaring overhead.
The Barbecue terrace and pool/sun terrace are accessed down a sweeping stone stairway leading directly from the accommodation. Surrounded by mature acacia and pine trees, some over 100 years old, the feeling is of being in a woodland.
The interior comprises of an open plan living/sleeping area with double bed, two armchairs and a fixed foldaway table for indoor dining. The fitted cupboard and wardrobe covered with old pine doors are built into a recess which was the original entrance to the courtyard of the Inn. The newly fitted kitchen and bathroom are through an archway off the living area. All rooms have windows with wooden shutters and in the lounge there are antique wooden and stud double doors leading on to the terrace. All windows and the doors are fitted with insect screens. The spanish style wood and wrought iron furniture is handmade in the Philippines and was shipped out by the owner.
It can get chilly in the evenings and early mornings as we are situated approx 3000 ft above sea level. In the winter it can snow as this area is surrounded by the Sierra Nieves Biosphere, Serrania de Ronda mountain range and the Grazelema peaks rising nearly another 1000 ft above . From the Camino Ronda is seen resplendent on the Gorge. At anytime of day it is a spectacular sight.

Notes
|
3 airports Jerez, Malaga both approx 50kms and Seville around 125kms. Ronda 12kms has supermarkets and a variety of shops for food as well as gift, clothes and every amenity accorded to a large Spanish town. Views here are amazing. From the property mountains and hillsides as well as 4 split level terraces leading down to the pool. 3 of the terraces are set amongst mature trees and woodland. Pool terrace is a sun trap. Due to the nature of the stairs up and down the garden area, it is not suited to disabled, elderly or young children. There is a complete mix of leisure activities, either sports, walking, flora and fauna (books on subject available to use) The Costa del Sol is either 45 kms down the magnificent mountain San Pedro Road and onto Marbella or 1hr 20 mins along the Ronda/Algeciras mountain road which takes in the white villages of the Serrania (Gaucin, Benadalid etc) to Puerto Duquessa,Sabinillas and onto Estepona. Although a studio flat, the interior is tastefully done in the Andalucian style with modern amenities, the breathtaking outdoor space, completely private and for sole use of the client, is amazing. For amateur and professional archeologists, naturalists, and hikers the location is superb. For a relaxing holiday too, there is no to need to do anything except enjoy the property and a little local sightseeing. And if you dont feel like cooking, pop into your your local "venta" for some home cooking, local wine and warm welcome of the owners, Antonio and Antonia. |
