Canillas de Albaida is a quiet village, situated at the most northerly part of the valley, after passing Algarrobo,Sayalonga and Competa. Approximately 52 Kilometres from Malaga and twenty nine from Velez Malaga. Whilst set in the country north of the coast line Canillas de Albaida is very well positioned to enjoy the attractions of the Mediterranean Sea, the mountains and the beautiful countryside, making it an ideal destination for walkers, lovers of wildlife as it is situated on the edge of the national park. For those who enjoy a typical Spanish village ,and only a 30 minute drive away from beautiful beaches and the holiday resort of Nerja.
The accommodation is set at an altitude of 2085 feet above sea level. The view from the sun terrace is magnificent, facing directly south, in an elevated position overlooking the village, then beyond to the valley and mountains of the Sierra Almijara, and in the distance the Mediterranean Sea. You cannot fault this superbly renovated 300 year old ground floor apartment and tucked away in a quiet corner, with well laid out accommodation and rustic style, and it has is own courtyard, with access stairs to to the roof terrace with wonderful views. The apartment has mellow terracotta style ceramic flooring with new fitted kitchenette, every original feature have been retained where possible, and the new timber windows have been hand crafted in traditional style. The apartment offers: From the patio you enter into the kitchenette with all the facilities for your holiday. There is one beautiful rustic double bedroom with Satelite TV.The bed has a TEMPUR mattress topper. A fireplace and windows looking out onto the patio. There is a small bed/sitting room, with 2 single sofa beds/chairs. A large bathroom with double shower. You will have access to the roof terrace by means of stairs from outside where you have wonderful views of the sea, village and surrounding hills. You will have your own private jacuzzi.
The house is over 300 years old and was owned by one big Spanish family originally, where 7 children grew up and then went their own ways. One of the 7 children who has his own family now, lives next door. He told us that they kept mules, donkeys, chickens and goats in the lower part of the house. All the family lived in the top of the house. So, this is a very important house in the village and steeped in history.
We, the owners live in the other part of the house and will be there for you, should you need us.
There are lovely bars, restaurants & supermarkets within walking distance and a municipal swimming pool (for those hot days) with its own cafe/bar open from May - Sept for 3 euros a day.
