Notes
The long golden sands of Matalacanas beach which has been awarded the EU Blue Flag and the protected natural surroundings are quite different from other touristic areas of the Spanish Coast. The recent urban development has been made taking special care of the eco-system of dunes and pine trees. Matalacañas becomes a hive of activity with the local people selling their wares in open markets. You can choose to watch them in one of the many superb restaurants and bars in the area. Within a 15 minute drive is the historical border town of Almonte with its cobbled streets, local markets and a diverse range of shops and interesting places to eat.
