The house is located in a quiet neighbourhood with villas, where children can still play on the street..
The main part of the garden and the swimming pool (3x8m, to be used from May up to the end of September), are located at the back side of the house and provide you with tranquillity, privacy and a free view at the country side. You can have a barbeque on each day of the year; for this purpose we have a separate bbq-house in the back garden.
In the pleasant village of Roda de Bara (6000 inhabitants), you can do your daily shopping (grocery stores, bakeries, butchers, fish-shop, farmacy, internetcafe, etc.). You will not encounter many tourists in the village; so you can have a drink on a terrace or in a bar amongst locals.
Tarragona and of course Barcelona are the places to be for an extensive day of shopping, culture and history; Tarragona with its old town centre and Roman remains and metropolis Barcelona with the Rambla, old port, Sagrada Familia, spots of Gaudi, the aquarium, zoo, ...)
The small town of El Vendrell (7 km) is a typical Spanish town, in which you can observe the daily life and you for instance can buy your daily needs in the covered market (from Monday up to Saturday morning). At night you can go out to Les Mates, a lifely centre with e.g. a cinema, bowling and restaurants.
Roda de Bara has various beaches. The small beach at Roc de Sant Gaieta (the old neighbourhood of fishermen, contructed on a rock) is small and surveyable, is a sheltered spot and the water remains shallow for many meters. The Barraquera-beach has a long boulevard (paseo) with some restaurants, bars and bed-rental. Also the beaches of Calafell, Coma-Ruga, Creixell, Torredembara, Altafulla and Tamarit are within a few minutes reach by car.
You can have a walk or go for a bicycle ride along the beach for many kilometers to the north and the south.
Within a 30 minutes driving distance you have fun-fair and water-paradise Portaventura and the Agualeon water-paradise and zoo..
In almost each village you have indoor playgrounds, which are used by many Spanish families.
Within an hour driving distance up-country, you are in the Spanish “champagne”-region (the Penedes). You can taste the cava at a vineyard and visit the monastries of Montserrat and Santa Creus. On your way you will for sure encounter some restaurants, in which you can have the daily menu (menú diario) with local dainty for a moderate price.
For the sportive ones: mountainbiking in a hilly area within 10 minutes biking distance from home and jogging on the beach or skeelering at the boulevard; training circuit, basketball- and small soccer-field at 5 minutes walking distance.
