Cortijo de los Jorges
Situated in the foothills of Sierra de las Estancia, this beautifully renovated farmhouse lies on the north eastern fringes of Andalucia. surrounded by acres of almond and olive trees. With superb views of the distant mountains and surrounding countryside this tranquil location is ideal for those wishing to get away from it all.
We have spectacular night skies, (you can see the Milky Way most evenings) and being close to nature, our rural retreat is ideal for birdwatching (Golden Orioles to Golden Eagles), walking and horse riding - there are riding stables nearby. Alternatively, you may just wish to relax by the pool and enjoy the sunshine, and in the evening watch the sun go down behind the sierras.
Accommodation
Set over two floors the spacious living area has attractive beamed ceilings and terracotta tiled floors.
Ground floor: A large, vaulted kitchen/breakfast room opens into the dining area (with stairs leading to the master bedroom). There is a sitting room/fourth bedroom (with sofabed), shower room, hallway, main sitting room with a second staircase leading to two further bedrooms.
First Floor: An impressive master bedroom with ensuite bathroom offers spectacular views of the Sierra de las Estancias. Two further bedrooms are reached by a separate staircase, one with an antique French double bed, the other with twin beds. Both have ensuite shower rooms. All upstairs rooms have sloping, beamed ceilings.
Outside are lovely gardens, a courtyard, various paved seating areas, one under a vine-covered pergola. Steps lead down to an attractive oval swimming pool (10m x 5m) with uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside.
Location
Cortijo de los Jorges is approximately 90 minutes from four major Spanish airports: Alicante, Murcia, Almeria and Granada. It is 10 – 15 minutes drive from a major motorway, the E92N which runs from Granada to Alicante. The last 5 minutes’ drive is along a dirt track road known as a ‘rambla’ which can be easily accessed by anything from a small car, (eg Ford Ka or Renault Clio) to a 4 wheel drive. We will of course provide detailed maps and/or meet you at the motorway exit.
It is 15 minutes from two small towns, Velez Rubio and Puerto Lumbreras where you will find numerous bars, restaurants, supermarkets and a weekly market, and 45 – 50 minutes from the coastal resorts of Aguilas, San Juan de ot Terreros, Garrucha and Mojacar.
